Attendance
Good attendance is one of the keys to success in school. Any time a student is absent, that absence must be cleared by sending a note with the student when he/she returns, call the office between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Please include the first and last name of the student, the date of the absence, and the reason for the absence.
You may call to verify your child’s absence up to 10 school days after your child has been absent. Absences that are not verified within that time will be considered unexcused.
Fourteen (14) absences in the school year may be allowed due to illness. Any further absences due to illness for the rest of the school year will require a doctor’s note to clear the absence.
Excused absences only for the following reasons:
Illness, Medical Appointment, Death of an immediate relative, and Pre-Arranged.
Unexcused absences can include:
Car trouble, Oversleeping, going out of town or on vacation, a parent/guardian having an appointment, and not having a babysitter.

LUSD Cell Phone Policy for 2026-2027
Lodi Unified School District Families:
This important update is being shared regarding smartphone use during school in 2026-2027.
This school year, students will be required to keep their smartphones turned off and stored in their backpacks during the regular school day. This practice aligns with Lodi Unified School District’s Board Policy 5131: Student Conduct.
This Board of Education approved change is designed to reduce distractions, support student mental health, minimize instances of cyberbullying and support student academic discourse throughout the school day. Research strongly supports limiting phone use during the school day, and similar policies are being adopted in schools across the state. In fact, California’s Assembly Bill 3216 will require school districts to adopt such policies by July 1, 2026. Please note that exceptions will be made for students with medical needs or accommodations outlined in their IEPs.
We understand that this may change how you communicate with your child during the day, even though they will be able to retrieve messages or return calls at the end of the regular school day. Our school offices are always available to relay important messages, and students can use office phones if needed. In the event of an emergency, it's essential that students stay focused on staff instructions. First responders recommend limiting phone use to ensure safety and clear communication.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe and focused learning environment.
Google Classroom Guardian Email
📣 Google Classroom Guardian Emails Now Synced with Aeries
You may have already noticed—guardian email invitations in Google Classroom are now automatically synced with the Aeries database.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Only guardians listed as Educational Rights Holders in Aeries are invited to receive weekly email summaries from Google Classroom.
- Manual guardian entries are no longer allowed. The list is fully controlled by the Aeries sync and updates nightly.
- If a guardian isn’t receiving the invitation, please direct them to contact the school office to update their information in Aeries.
- Guardians who wish to stop receiving emails can simply delete the invitation.
Please do not advise them to click “unsubscribe,” as that will not stop Google from resending the invitation. - Guardian summaries include:
- Missing work
- Upcoming work
- Recent announcements, assignments, and questions
- A preview link to Google Classroom
- Note: Grades, comments, and student attachments are not included.
No action is needed from you—just a heads-up in case families ask about it.
