BridlemileFriday Flyer October 9, 2026

Thank you, Bridlemile Community! Thank you, Bridlemile Community!

Bridlemile Book Bistro was a huge success!

Our library was busy from the 4:00 p.m. start of the event until we wrapped up at 6:30pm! Beagles stopped by before and after rehearsals and practices, and it was a joy to see so many students excited to explore new books and find something to read over the long weekend.

If your Beagle wasn’t able to come to Book Bistro, don’t worry! We’ll continue our book tasting and opportunities to check out new books next week. There are new books here for every Beagle to enjoy!

It’s hard to imagine a better investment in our school than the important update and refresh of our library collection and putting so many new books into students’ hands. Thank you, Bridlemile community, for making this possible!

All K-5 students recently completed Fall math and literacy assessments. These are computer-adaptive assessments given at the beginning of the school year to establish an academic baseline to start the year, identify strengths and next steps for growth, and set personalized goals. Assessments are provided during the winter and spring to mark academic growth.

Like previous years, we will print paper copies of these individual reports and will send them home via student backpacks. Please look for these individual student reports in backpacks in week.

Hello Bridlemile families!

We’ve been busy getting fit, learning new skills, and having fun in PE. Our goal every year is to practice and teach as many different skills/activities as possible. At the same time, we are building on and reinforcing the skills returning students have worked on in previous years. This allows your kids to establish a solid foundation of general skills that are transferable between a range of different activities.

Currently we are working on underhand & overhand throwing and catching skills with a focus on correct arm position, stepping with our opposite foot and throwing at a target with accuracy. Throwing and catching skills also happen to be one of my favorite skills to teach because once kids get the hang of the basics we can integrate the skills into so many fun games and activities. Kid favorites are: Bulls Eye, Make It Take It, Move the Hoop, Home Alone, Hula Hut Throwdown, Castle Ball, Hula Hustle Relay and Sink the Ship. Thanks for reading and I hope you can get out and do something active over the three day weekend!

Important reminders:

Dress for success - Please make sure your kids wear comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes on PE days.

Stay Active - Encourage your kids to stay active outside of school too! We only see them for 90 minutes a week, but kids need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day!

At Bridlemile, all students learn about conflict resolution by using Kelso's Choice Curriculum. In these next few weeks, your students' classes will be focused on understanding the difference between "big problems" and "small problems." Big problems—such as those involving safety and bullying—require adult assistance, while small problems are everyday issues that students can work through on their own using choices from Kelso’s wheel. We’re excited to see our students building these life skills and becoming more confident in managing conflict.

Did you know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month?

Bullying can have a lasting impact on a child’s self-esteem, emotional well-being, and academic performance. It’s important to continue to have conversations with children about what bullying looks like, why it’s harmful, and how they can stand up for themselves and others respectfully and safely. By encouraging kindness, empathy and respect, we all work together to make Bridlemile a safe and inclusive environment where every Beagle feels safe and valued!

Join our Fundraising Team!

The Bridlemile Foundation is building its 2026–27 fundraising team — and we’d love to connect with parents and caregivers who want to help make a big impact at our school.

If you’ve ever wondered how to get involved, this is your moment. You don’t need fundraising experience, and you don’t need a huge time commitment. We have roles for planners, creatives, connectors, spreadsheet lovers, event helpers, and people who simply want to pitch in when they can.

Explore volunteer roles and tell us what sparks your interest!

Thanks to last year’s incredible community support, the Foundation raised $125,000 — funding field trips for every grade, school supplies, teacher grants, library updates, reading specialists, garden education, and so much more.

Together, we can keep building opportunities for every Bridlemile student. Help us keep the momentum going this year and beyond!

Early Release Day

Hi, Beagles!

Come join us in the school garden for an afternoon of community, fresh air, and getting our garden ready for winter!

We have 4 yards of compost being delivered, and our goal is to fill the garden beds and get them tucked in before the winter rains arrive. No gardening experience required!

We’ll have:

  • 🧤 Gloves and garden tools

  • 🎨 Garden rock painting for kids

  • 🥨 Snacks and drinks

  • 🌿 Plenty of garden jobs for all ages and abilities

Whether you can stay for the whole two hours or just stop by for a bit, we’d love to have you join us!

Let’s work together to get our garden beds ready for the cooler months. We can’t wait to see you in the garden!

The Garden Committee plans to host garden work parties on early-release days throughout the school year, weather permitting.

Join our Fundraising Team!

The PTA and Foundation are working together to consolidate fundraising asks and reduce the number of individual requests to families. Last year’s auction made it possible to fund school supplies, field trips, teacher supply lists and more.

The goal is simple: fewer big fundraising asks, more opportunities to participate in ways that work for your family, and more of our community’s support going directly toward the needs of every Bridlemile student.

LAST REMINDER! LAST DAY TO ORDER IS NEXT WEDNESDAY!!

We’re excited to partner with Kiyokawa Family Orchards to bring Bridlemile’s first-ever apple and pear sale to our school community.

Proceeds from the sale will help fund the Bridlemile community garden. These resources give our students hands-on opportunities to learn about gardening, food, and where it comes from.

How to Order:

  1. Order: Purchase your selected apples and/or pears linked HERE by October 14th.

  2. Pick up: Orders will be available for pickup at Bridlemile after school on Friday, October 23rd or at the Monster Mash on Saturday, October 24th.

Pickup details and reminders will be sent. Thank you for supporting the Bridlemile community garden!

Please note: Our apples and pears are picked just a few days before your order is delivered, so you’ll receive them at peak freshness. Apples typically have a 2–3 month shelf life, while pears generally have a 1–2 month shelf life when stored properly

Turn Cans into Cash for Bridlemile!

Have a stash of cans piling up? Put them to work for Bridlemile! Blue BottleDrop bags are available for pickup in the school office. Fill a bag with your empty cans and bottles, then return it to help raise money for our school.

How it works:

  • Pick up a blue bag in the school office.

  • Fill it with eligible cans and bottles.

  • Drop it off at a Garden Work Day on early-release days, or return it directly to BottleDrop or the Barbur Blvd Fred Meyer.

It’s an easy way to turn your recycling into funds for Bridlemile—one bag at a time!
