METCO Newsletter
Bedford METCO | October 2026 | Week 10/19
Hello METCO Families,
I hope you had a chance to enjoy the weekend! As we head into another busy week, thank you for staying connected and helping our students show up ready to learn, participate, and support one another.
Around Our Schools
- Davis: BEST PTO’s book drive is supporting classroom libraries through November 1. Families who would like to contribute can select a new book from the Davis wish list.
- Lane: Lane also has a classroom book wish list through the same drive. Donations for either school can be shipped or dropped off at The Residence at Bedford, 240 South Road. Every book helps!
- JGMS: Picture Day is Monday, October 19! Sixth-grade families should also review the school’s instructions for Nature’s Classroom, October 21–23, including packing and departure details.
- Bedford High School: College visits continue this week, with Springfield, St. Michael’s, Endicott, and Rivier listed for Monday. Encourage interested students to check with Counseling about participating. A special shout-out, too, to our Unified Basketball players and everyone cheering them on!
A Few Reminders
- PDC Bowling in November: Keep our upcoming community bowling event on your radar! We would love to see METCO families come out, meet other families, and enjoy some time together beyond the school day. Please refer to the event flyer for details.
- Film & Dialogue — November 18: Save the date and plan to join us. These conversations grow stronger when our families are part of them, and your presence matters.
- District Forms: If you haven’t already, complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey sent through DocuSign for each enrolled child. Families can also access MCAS results through the MCAS Family Portal; your child’s registration code is available in Aspen.
- Calendar Check: Wednesday, October 21 is a scheduled ¾ workshop day. Looking ahead, Tuesday, November 3 is a staff professional development day with no school for students.
Late Buses | October 19–23
Students should let METCO staff know when they are staying for an afternoon activity, and families should confirm their transportation plans. Please communicate any changes so we can help everyone get home smoothly.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and continuing to show up for our METCO community. Please reach out with questions, concerns, or a student accomplishment we can celebrate. Let’s have a great week!
Warmly,
Akil Mondesir
Director of METCO & Community Engagement
