A partial solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, 2024. We will be following modified operations at school during the eclipse. Please review safety information with your student before they arrive to school on Monday. Following is an excerpt from information sent by CCSD to families:

Direct viewing of the sun during a solar eclipse can cause serious eye damage. We cannot stress enough the importance of safety precautions and the risks associated with this historical event. We urge families to review the Eye Safety During a Total Solar Eclipse guidance published by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and have open and honest conversations with their child(ren) about taking safety precautions during the eclipse. Please discuss the importance of eye safety with your child and ensure they understand the risks associated with looking directly at the sun without proper protection.

It will soon be time for students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 to complete annual state assessments. This is a good time to review with students the importance of doing their best on each part of the assessment, using all the skills and knowledge they have, and being prepared for each day with a good night's sleep and breakfast.

During these weeks, there will be changes to the specials schedule. Additional information will be shared next week.

• Grades 3/4/5 Reading State Test - April 16/17/18
• Grades 3/4/5 Mathematics State Test - April 23/24
• Grade 5 Science State Test - April 30/May 1

Our next Family Fun Night will be Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. An order form will be sent home in the upcoming week to purchase admission tickets which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. We are seeking parents/guardians who would be interested in volunteering at this event - please fill out this quick VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM if you are interested.

Our JAWS program has been paused for several weeks. We anticipate that students will be able to begin collecting JAWS lap cards again during their lunch recess in the upcoming week. We will be distributing prizes for students who have earned them as well. The JAWS program will wrap up for the year on May 3, 2024. Unfortunately, Friday morning JAWS will not be available for the remainder of this school year; we are planning on this event returning in the upcoming school year.
