Planning Reminders Planning Reminders

GRR

The Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) education model is a progressive instructional approach that aims to facilitate student learning and skill development by gradually shifting the responsibility from the teacher to the students. The consists of the teacher demonstrating and modeling the concept or skill, providing explicit instruction and guidance. Additionally, the teacher and students engage in collaborative learning, where the teacher provides support and scaffolding while the students actively participate. As students gain confidence and understanding, the teacher gradually reduces their involvement, allowing students to practice independently. Ultimately, students become self-directed learners, capable of applying their knowledge and skills autonomously. This student-centered approach fosters a more inclusive and engaging learning environment, promoting deeper comprehension and critical thinking skills.

You should be planning your daily lessons with GRR in mind. Remember it does not have to go (I do)->(We do)->(You do together)->(You do alone). It can and should be fluid but all four phase should be present in a daily lesson.

Why should I use the product?

Lowman has created these warmups and assignments based off the frequency of tested TEKS. They also have new question item types. However, these resources are not interactive. For example, students would not actually drag and drop an item on the drag and drop questions. These products are available to you through word and PDF, so they do not have interactive quality. However, they do explicitly explain to the student what question type it is. If you would like to make them interactive, you could take those questions and plug them into Schoology or TFAR. I believe the purpose is the same because we want to focus on the skill of how these new question types are tested.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Instructional Strategies Instructional Strategies

KISD has implemented an initiative to commit to three high yield strategies that will be implemented across all grade levels and content. These strategies will help to increase student engagement and rigor. Please look over these strategies and think about how you can regularly plan for their implementation in your lesson. You can refer back to them in our Killeen ISD Secondary Social Studies Schoology group found here
