Introduction

Hello Bellevue Parents and Families!

My name is Scott Spicher. I am proud to be the new Principal at Bellevue Middle School/High School. Bellevue is a school community that is steeped in tradition and excellence. I look forward to working with you and your student to restore the TIGER PRIDE in all that we do as a school community.

This is my 21st year in education. I have experience working both in Northern Kentucky and in the Cincinnati area. I currently live in Burlington, KY with my wife Laura. We have 4 kids. Abby graduated from Cooper High School in 2020 and just graduated from UK. Ben graduated from Cooper High School in 2022, and is now entering his Junior year at Xavier University where he is in the Army ROTC program. Connor is a sophomore at Cooper High School, and youngest son AJ will be a 7th grader at Camp Ernst Middle School. They certainly keep us busy, but we wouldn't have it any other way!

My normal rhythm of communicating with you is by sending this update out every Friday to your email address on file. I will also post this update on the Bellevue Indpendent Schools Facebook page, to our website, and our my X (Twitter) page at @BMSHS_Principal. If you ever have any questions or concerns during the school year, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. You can reach me at scott.spicher@bellevue.kyschools.us. You can also follow me on X (Twitter) at @BMSHS_Principal. I look forward to working with you and your student as we learn and grow together.

With TIGER PRIDE!

This family friendly event will take place on Wednesday, August 7th from 5:00pm - 6:30pm at Ben Flora Gymnasium and is open for all Bellevue students in grades K-12. 2024-2025 Device Deployment Nights

We are very fortunate that Bellevue Middle School/High School is a 1:1 school. That means all students receive a laptop from the school for them to use for the entire school year. Students are not permitted to bring in their own devices for instruction. For safety purposes, students are required to use the devices issued by the school. Students can pick up their device on Monday, August 12th, or Tuesday, August 13th from 1:00pm - 7:00pm at the school. A parent/guardian is required to attend with the student to pick up their device. There is a $25 technology fee to get the device. There is also an optional $50 insurance fee. The insurance fee covers one breakage event. Parents can purchase up to two insurance events.

New School Cell Phone/Device Policy

For the 2024-2025 school year, Bellevue Middle School/High School will be following a new cell phone/device policy in order to protect the instructional time of the day. Students are not permitted to have cell phones or ear buds in class during the instructional time. When students enter the classroom, they will put their devices into a clear pocket that is hanging on the classroom door. They will be able to take their cell phone and ear buds with them when they leave the classroom. The policy will be for all classes in grades 6-12.

Students are permitted to have their phones and ear buds on them during arrival, transitions in between classes, lunch, and dismissal. In the event of an emergency, students will need the permission of building administration to use their cell phone during instructional time. We will send you and your student a full copy of our student handbook as we get closer to the school year starting.

Outside Food and Drinks

Due to federal breakfast/lunch guidelines, students are not permitted to bring outside food an drinks into the building. This includes large caffeinated drinks from places like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. This also applies to our students who are taking classes at Gateway or NKU. Students are permitted to carry water bottles with them during the day.

Master Schedule Change

We have made a minor adjustment to our master schedule for the 2024-2025 school year. The instructional day will begin for all students at 8:00am with their 1st block classes. We made this move to place an emphasis on attendance, and our instructional time. All students are considered tardy at 8:01am with the exception of our students that attend Gateway for dual enrollment courses. Students who attend Gateway should arrive to school by 8:50am. They will make their selections for their flex block classes each day and then be ready to depart BMHS for Gateway at 9:00am. We will still operate on our early release day schedule every Wednesday. Students will be dismissed at 2:00pm on early release days. Please click on the link below for a full copy of our new master schedule.
