Congratulations to the following students on being identified as National Merit Commended Scholars:

- Rogan Ellis
- Carly Munce
Commended Students are recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry. This award puts these students in the top 3% of the 1.5 million students who took the test nation wide. They will not, however, continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships to be offered next spring.
Andover Art Club Mural Volunteer
A dedicated group of Andover High School Art Club students volunteered many hours over the summer to design and install a mural at Hillside Mountain Bike Park in Elk River. The design was created by Andovers’ Kahlan Iblings, and was given a stipend from the Elk River Parks Board to pay for supplies. The design incorporates elements that reflect the park, and brings a bright spot to the middle of the park. The Art Club members included Mariam Aldelemy, Kahlan Iblings, Cameron Kasick, Jazmyn Masloski, Abigail Grace Moore, Genette Morcho, Carly Munce, Kylie Olsen and Grace Stifter.
Great work Andover Art Club!

Andover’s vision is to provide opportunities for learning and leadership, support for academic and personal excellence, and a learning environment that is safe and inclusive. Our students will graduate empowered to achieve their personal and professional goals, engage the world, and thrive in the 21st century.
Week 1 Winners!
Today we celebrate Co-teaching pair Erin Burnette, Special Education, and Tracey Griess, Math. Erin and Tracey make student engagement a priority in their classroom, providing students with math activities that involve group work and movement. Students can be seen working on vertical whiteboards all around the room, solving problems collaboratively. Students are supported by two caring adults who seamlessly work with all students in the room. Co-teaching can be hard work and these two have developed a wonderful, collaborative relationship that helps students achieve their best!
Join us in congratulating Erin and Tracey on receiving this year's first Top Dog Award!

Boys State and Girls State Competition
Congratulations to the following students who represented Andover at Boys and Girls State this past June: Jonathan Alcocer, Nolan Anderson, Jackson Boos, Alexander El Dorado, Matthew Gerth, Lilly Bass, Aubrie Heydeck and Lillian Larson.
They spent a week at St Johns University and Bethel University exploring and competing in government. This is a hands on practical experience for high school juniors to learn about government and develop qualities of good citizenship. They get an opportunity to compete and run for a position in Politics.
We are proud of the dedication and time you committed to educating yourselves about citizenship.
Congratulations on being selected to represent Andover!

The survey asks students about bullying behaviors they may have experienced or witnessed at school. The results are used to help identify and address areas of concern to make the school environment safe and welcoming for all students.

GoGuardian Parent
New technology tool available for families: GoGuardian Parent
Technology plays an important role in preparing students for life, and Chromebooks are utilized as a daily learning tool in Anoka-Hennepin middle and high school classrooms. Students in grades 6-12 are assigned a Chromebook from the school district to ensure access to technology systems that support classroom learning.
As part of Anoka-Hennepin Schools' commitment to student safety and well-being, an optional technology tool is now available for district families at no charge, “GoGuardian Parent.” This application provides parents with insights into their child’s online activity within their school-managed accounts and devices.
Features include:
Review of browsing history.
Blocking of specific websites during out-of-school hours.
Pause internet access on demand during out-of-school hours.
Scheduled times to pause internet access during out-of-school hours.
Participation in GoGuardian Parent is optional. Anoka-Hennepin Schools respects parental rights and provides this tool as an additional resource for families who wish to utilize it.
Read instructions to get started.
Attend to Achieve
Families can support student success, consider the impact of school attendance
Students need to attend school to achieve in school. Anoka-Hennepin Schools aims to share attendance and resources and tips with families to support student success.
Every day counts: Research shows that missing 10 percent of school negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month! (Attendance Works.) District student services staff and attendance secretaries at each school may reach out to families throughout the school year if your student is at risk of truancy.
Why it matters: The more involved students are in school, the more likely they are to enjoy and want to attend school. Students who attend school 95% of the time are:
More likely to be on track to graduate on time.
Do better in reading and math.
Are less likely to fail a class.
Are more likely to have the credits needed to graduate.
Families can make a difference: We can all work together to support students. Consider how you can help your student attend to achieve!
Teach your child to organize their clothes, lunch and books for school the night before, so they are prepared in the morning.
Encourage your child to participate in before- or after-school activities. Students who are involved at school usually enjoy school more and are more likely to want to attend each day.
Schedule non-emergency health and dental appointments outside of school hours; and schedule vacations for days your children don’t have school.
If you know your child needs to miss school, contact the office as soon as possible to coordinate plans as soon as possible.
