Happy Homecoming!
We are sending the newsletter a little early today as a reminder to come out and see the parade this afternoon at 4:00pm on Orange Avenue. Homecoming is a special tradition, especially here in Coronado where we involve the entire community with the parade featuring CHS class floats, NJROTC, CoSA, homecoming court, and the football team. The game tonight starts at 7pm and the King and Queen will be crowned during the halftime show. Remember that entry is cashless and you need to purchase digital tickets online in advance HERE.
It looks like the heat wave is continuing though the weekend. Current NOAA readings for this weekend and early next week show projections which may necessitate that Heat Day(s) occur early in the week. We will continue to monitor forecasts throughout the weekend and, per our Heat Day Release Guidelines, will notify staff and families before 7pm the night prior to a minimum day.
Stay cool this weekend!

CAUGHT POG'N!
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments celebrating how our CUSD family is bringing our Portrait of a Graduate vision to life. What a positive testament to our community!
- Recently, Jorge Mejia was asked to dispose many boxes, but recognized that some of the items might need to be retained. He contacted staff to ensure the boxes were reviewed and properly routed which saved money and ensured compliance. Thank you Jorge!
- Sophia Frost is shining at Silver Strand, helping in so many ways with so many people that it's hard to list them all! Sophia offers an empathetic ear to all--students, staff, and families. She has met with every class to lay a foundation for a successful social-emotional year. She is leading groups with a curriculum designed to help students regulate emotions and solve problems. She is assisting with student behavior challenges, offering her office and resources within it as an incentive, and communicating with families about their students' challenges and growth--partnering compassionately and effectively to keep students safe and seen at Strand. Sophia, you are a superstar!!
Click here to recognize a student, staff member, or volunteer who has been "Caught PoG'n!"
Those who are recognized will receive a copy of the positive words shared about them and an official "Caught PoG'n!" decal. Please take a minute or two to highlight someone actively modeling our district's core competencies and brighten their day!
