Build Math Minds
"Managing Small Group Work" - Episode 119
Tuesday's faculty meeting will be focused on how we respond to our Math MAP scores. We only have 36 instructional days until we take the Spring Math MAP test, so time is of the essence! We'll get more specific on Tuesday, but Christina shares some ideas for how she has managed small groups in math. Give it a listen to see if there's a nugget you can take away.

Math MAP Celebrations at a Glance
- 80.19% of our students met or were within 5 points of their AVT.
- The percent of students scoring below the 25th percentile has been reduced from 15.3% in the fall to 9.9% in the winter. This is a huge celebration and a testament to your work.
- On average, our students grew 8.7 points from fall to winter.
- On average, our students with math minutes on their IEP grew 6.3 points from fall to winter.
- DreamBox makes a difference! At Ebinport, we have found that:
- if students completed 5 lessons or more a week, they had an 88.41% chance of meeting or scoring within 5 points of their AVT on Math MAP.
- if students completed less than 5.0 lessons a week, they only had a 70.83% chance of meeting or scoring within 5 points of their AVT on Math MAP.
DreamBox in Spanish
If you have a new students who does not speak English, consider changing the settings on their DreamBox to make the program use Spanish. Kari Doster and La'Porchia Davis both found success with changing the language on DreamBox last week. CLICK HERE for instructions on how to do this.
Math MTSS Updates
Due to the craziness of last week, Leslie, Anita, and I rescheduled our Spring 2024 Tier III planning session to Monday morning. Please be on the lookout for information from these ladies about when students will be served. Our goal is for these groups to start as quickly as possible.
Where Are My Slides?
I hope you found the district slides to be thought-provoking and useful during first semester. Whether you used them daily or if you just paged through them to find activities and to make sure your instruction was up to par with the level of the standard, these slides continue to be a resource for you to use. As you look ahead on the Quarter 3 pacing documents within Canvas, you may be thinking "where are my slides?" A team of four math instructional coaches (myself included) are in the process of creating these slide decks. Across six grade levels, we are creating slides for 270 days of instruction for just this quarter alone. Our goal is to provide quality material - even if that may take a little bit longer. We are committed to publishing each slide deck by the teaching date on the district calendar. We all appreciate your flexibility and hope the wait is worth it. Let me know if you have any questions or if your team needs materials while these slides are in progress.
Tanner's Schedule for the Week
As a coach, my schedule is flexible. Please realize that my schedule will change based on what is included below. This gives you a rough idea of when I will be out of the building, in coaching cycles with teachers, or in meetings. If you need anything, reach out and let me know how I can help!
