Parent Newsletter

Sincere thanks to all the parents who were able to attend meetings at the school last week. We truly appreciate the effort you made to be here. While the teachers couldn't go into great detail about classroom routines in the 20 minute timeframe, we hope you found the meetings helpful and enjoyed the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and get a glimpse of what happens in their classroom.

To facilitate staff training , the children will be finished school at 12pm (11:45am for infants and their siblings) on Wednesday 9th October.

The National Council for Special Education (NCSE) has just informed us that we will have an NCSE Advisory Visit on Friday, November 15th. The school will be closed to pupils on that day.

We are excited to announce that the Parents Association will be hosting a PowerBall Fundraiser to raise much-needed funds for the school! The children went home with sponsorship cards yesterday.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Event Overview: PowerBall is a fun, inflatable football goal challenge where students and teachers kick a ball into the goal to see how fast they can kick using a radar system. There’s also a target shooting component for added fun!

• Participation: Every child will have the chance to participate, whether or not they raise funds. Each child will get 3 shots at the power kick and 3 shots at the target shooting. All participants will receive a PowerBall Certificate with their top score, and the best boy and girl in each class will receive a Gold Medal.

• Sponsorship: Children have recieved sponsorship forms. They will have time to raise as much money as possible. For those raising over €20, there are fantastic prizes:

  • €20: Personalized Water Bottle
  • €40: Water Bottle + Boot/Swim Bag (with initials and favorite number)
  • €60: Water Bottle, Boot/Swim Bag + Football
  • €80+: Water Bottle, Boot/Swim Bag, Football + School Bag (with initials)
  • €150+: All of the above plus a pair of Umbro football boots or Astro runners!

• Important Info:

  • The event is fully inclusive, and no child will be excluded from participating, regardless of how much money they raise.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support the school while providing a fun, active day for the students. If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to reach out. On behalf of the Parents Association, thank you for your support!

Our Open Day for our New Pupils will take place in the final term. I would appreciate it if you could share this information with family and members of the community who may be looking to enrol their child. Thank you for your support.

As you all know, regular school attendance is crucial for every child. Consistent attendance helps children reach their full potential.

Please try to minimise absences whenever possible. Children thrive on routine and structure, and frequent absences or early pickups can negatively impact both their academic and social progress. If you're unsure about keeping your child home due to illness, please call the office for advice. If your child becomes unwell at school, we will contact you, and you can decide whether they need to go home.

A big well done to our girls' football team, who were victorious in thier match against Robinstown NS in the third round of the Cumann na mBunscol Football Competition on Tuesday. The girls were narrowly defeated by Rathcairn this afternoon but spirits were high when they arrived bqack to the school as they had all played so great and they were happy with their performance, well done girls!

The boys football team have been making great improvements over the past three games. After narrow losses to Kilcloon NS and Skryne NS, the boys got their first win of their campaign in a really tough contest with Carnaross NS. The boys have their final group match next week on Tuesday v Stackallen NS in Rathkenny GFC. Many thanks to all of the parents for their support at these matches.

Homework started this week, and well done to the children for doing their best! It’s very important for all parents to support their children with homework. We ask parents to help ensure that homework is completed. If your child is experiencing any difficulties, please notify the class teacher and the teacher will follow up with you to discuss.

This is a fundraising initiative and the money raised will be used to directly support your children's education and purchase resources for our school including sensory and IT equipment, sports equipment, classroom and teaching resources.
