Keeping the Crew up to Date! Volume 2 Issue 9- 10/22/23
Greetings Clipper Nation!
There are many ways for students to get involved in an extracurricular activity. Please review our bulletin in the message to see what might interest your student and encourage them to get involved. Once they decide to get involved, fill out the information for Step Up. Any students who stay after school are a part of Step Up. We provide a snack and transportation. Step Up runs from Monday through Thursday 3:00 to 4:30.
Just a few reminders as we come to the end of the first term, which is around the corner on November 7th.
Please encourage your student to stay focused on completing work to ensure quality grades at the end of the term. Anyone who plans to participate in a winter sport must have a 2.0 at the end of term.
If students miss 5 or more unexcused days, their grades will turn to E's until they earn them back through attendance recovery. Attendance recovery will take place after school through the Step Up program.
Students currently enrolled in AP courses for semester 1 need to sign up to take the AP exam. If your student initially indicated they were undecided about taking the exam, they must change their status to take the exam. By taking the exam, students could earn college credit for the class. The AP exams are free this year, so encourage your students to take them. The on fee that could come about is if a students says they are taking the exam but don't show up to take it. The fee for that would be $40. Here is the link for the student Google Form.

Seniors (Class of 2024)
College Essay Support for Seniors:
We have good news for seniors who are working on their college essays! Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Cahall are ready to review your college essays and provide feedback starting on Monday, October 2 – Sunday, December 31.
Here’s how it works:
You will need to email either Mrs. Taylor or Ms. Cahall (both are JMB English teachers) letting them know you would like them to review your essay. They will add you in on the assignment on Google Classroom where all communication about your essay will occur. At that point, you will upload your essay, the writing prompt or question that you are responding to along with any questions or comments about the essay you have sent.
Contact information for Participating JMB Teachers:
Mrs. Chelsea Taylor: chtaylor@wcboe.org
Ms. Jennifer Cahall: jcahall@wcboe.org
Of course, if there is another teacher you would like to review your essays you are welcome to contact them, but Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Cahall are the teachers that are part of this project. They are looking forward to reading your essays and supporting you through this process!

Make any corrections to the form in blue. If you need additional space for emergency contact use a separate sheet of paper. Sign the back of the form and return it to the school.
