SALISBURY COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Friday, September 25th
Dear Families,
Hello and happy Friday!
It was great seeing so many students and families at the Open House on Tuesday evening. Thank you to all who attended and to the teachers for preparing their classrooms in engaging and informative ways.
As you may have noticed, Ms. Donna has been out this week and may need to be out in the coming week as well. We are wishing her well. Shelly Smith is a veteran staff person at SCS and has been able to come in to cover many of the front desk responsibilities. Please add Shelly (Michelle) to your emails about absences, pick up, and dismissal in case she is covering the office: msmith@acsdvt.org. I am happy to be included on these emails as well.
We are always so grateful for volunteers and substitute teachers! If you are interested in volunteering (driving on field trips, helping with special school or class activities, etc), please complete the volunteer application on the ACSD website. Please note: this needs to be completed every year. If you think you would like being a substitute, there is link to that application on the website as well. For more information and the links, go to: https://www.acsdvt.org/work-with-us/jobs.
We've almost made it through September, and we're officially into fall now. There are many wonderful things happening at SCS everyday. Please tell your child to keep up the great work!
Thank you for reading these updates and have a wonderful weekend,
Tracey

Students were loving the new salad bar at lunch! Thanks to our food service folks for helping make this an option for students and staff.

ACSD's K-5 Curriculum and Reporting System
At the Open House, you should have received the grade level At A Glance documents for your child(ren). They are linked below for your records. Below there is a link to the district's reporting system overview. Teachers will be in touch over the next week or so to start setting up fall parent-teacher conferences. The window for these is October 5th - November 6th.
Bus Route Adjustments --UPDATE
We're happy to report there will be a 2:45 Ripton bus option again starting Monday, 9/28. This bus will be doing a shortened route depending on who needs the earlier option and where they need to go. Please make sure to email us if you intend to send your child on the 2:45 Ripton bus. We will determine the most efficient (and short) route possible so the bus can get down to Middlebury and out to Salisbury in a reasonable amount of time. The 3:45 bus to Ripton will follow the full route around town as needed.

FOSCS Info & Updates
We Want to Hear From You!
FOSCS is hoping to learn more about what SCS families are looking for in a parent group — what kinds of events you enjoy, ways you might like to pitch in, skills or ideas you'd be willing to share, and what you'd like to see FOSCS support this year.
Please take a few minutes to fill out our FOSCS survey — we'd really love to hear from every family, even if your answer right now is “not sure yet!”
