Welcome Message
Dear PHS/MHS Alumni,
You are receiving this newsletter because you joined the Piedmont/Millennium High School Alumni Network, and I am so glad you have done so. I know that our alumni are an important part of the Piedmont and surrounding community, and even though you may no longer attend our high schools, you have a desire to "give back" to our schools in important ways.
I hope this newsletter can keep you abreast of important information that is pertinent to alumni in our community. From special events, to sport, theater, music; our high schools still have much to offer our alumni community. Please take a few moments to peruse this and future newsletters as time permits.
Warmly,
David
From the Superintendent
I am excited to see the launch of the Piedmont Alumni Newsletter. The inspiration for this network emerged last year when I joined PUSD and could see early on that Piedmont has a thriving sense of community, including alumni who frequently reach out to share their experiences through class reunions, social media, and other events. Community pride is strong in Piedmont, and the Piedmont Alumni Network has the goal of bringing alumni together to increase a sense of pride as graduates of Millennium and Piedmont High School. More to come in how our alumni can engage, and we look forward to sharing more information in upcoming newsletters.
With gratitude,
Jennifer Hawn, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Piedmont Unified School District

20th Year Reunion
Planning a reunion? Well, this could be a great resource for helping with that. Jeff Dang (jwdang@gmail.com) is planning a 20 year reunion (class of 2005) for PHS. He would welcome guidance/resources from other alumni who have done this. Please feel free to reach out to him directly with information.
Alumni Wins Nobel Prize
You may have heard that on October 7, an alumni (class of 69) received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The prize was awarded jointly to Gary Ruvkun (our alumni) and Victor Ambros "for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation". You can get a lot more information about this former student here, including facts, the interview just after getting the news of his selection, and other resources.

Career Day is 2/28
Career Day 2025 has already been scheduled for Friday, February 28. This typically happens in Academy and gives us about 45 minutes for our guests to present/speak. We would love to have many of our alumni come back and share to our students on this day.
