2nd Grade Newsletter
April 20 - 24
Greetings!
What a fun Field Trip we had today! Thank you to all our chaperones for volunteering your time to be with our students. The students enjoyed their experience at Kidzania and we appreciate your help ensuring we had fun while being safe!
We are so excited to show off our Art work in the Sweet Shop at STEAM Night next week! Be sure to stop by!
π Math
In math we have finished our unit on fractions and are excited to learn beginning steps to multiplication and division.
π ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)
In reading, we are synthesizing texts based on a theme. This week we have started looking at texts on the theme of courage. The students are really enjoying sharing their personal stories of showing courage.
πΊοΈ Social Studies
We are counting down to Market Day next week! Your students will be purchasing goods and services from their peers using classroom currency they have earned for several weeks. They are so excited to be able to be producers and consumers in this real world experience!
π Science
Our larva have arrived and we are excitedly watching them go through the life cycle of a butterfly. We will be learning the stages of a butterfly and a frog's life cycle the next few weeks.

π£ Announcements
If you are dropping off your childβs lunch, please make sure to bring it NO LATER than 12:00 PM.
We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
- Please make sure your child is not bringing any toys to school. Several students are taking their Labubus off their backpacks and playing with them throughout the day or taking them to Specials. These items need to be left at home. Thank you!
- Along with weekly Phonics practice, have your child read something of their choice for 20 minutes a night or 100 minutes for the week. Please see the Take Home Support pictured here for more guidance on At-Home Phonics activities. This paper is also located in each student's purple folder.
- Your student is now expected to type in their own username and password to log in to their chromebook. Log in to Skyward to find their username and password and help them memorize it at home!
- Please be sure to bring a labeled water bottle and healthy snack daily.
- Please check Take Home folders each week for teacher communication regarding classroom behavior and to empty contents.

Kids Heart Challenge π
Kids Heart Challenge is here! Our students are learning how to keep their hearts and brains healthy, and raising funds to help kids with special hearts.
Weβre asking all families to sign up and complete Finnβs Mission, where they will learn Hands-Only CPR and the warning signs of a stroke. All students who sign up will receive a wristband.
Hereβs how you can help:
- Sign Up Today or download the AHA Schools app.
- Complete Finnβs Mission: Share with family and friends through social media, text and/or email so they too can learn the warning signs of stroke and Hands-Only CPR.
Thank you for supporting our school and students in saving lives!
