Jayhawk Staff Weekly Update
August 29, 2024
Message from Dr. Samuels
Jayhawk Staff,
I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend. It is nice to have a couple additional days. As we come back to school on Tuesday it will be important to review routines and expectations with students.
Walkthroughs
Mr. Beckham and I will begin spending more time in classrooms starting this week. Our primary goal is to observe and provide support as we learn more about instructional practices and student outcomes. Ultimately, our walk-throughs aim to enhance student learning by supporting effective instructional strategies that align with our students' needs. This will also be an opportunity for us to engage with both teachers and students, offering support and encouragement where needed.
Activities
As activities ramp up, it is important to help our students manage their time effectively. Please remind them to monitor their grades closely, as D & F lists will be run each week to determine eligibility.
Safety
Our students for the most part have done an excellent job not leaving the building between classes. Thank you for helping with this. We are reminding students to double check their belongings when they enter the building.
Remind students not to prop open doors.
If you have keys that unlock an exterior door we are asking to make sure the door remains locked. Klayton helps to monitor doors each morning and we are grateful for his attention.
Thank you for your continued dedication to our students’ success.
Big Thanks
Thank you for making connections with your students and families. Your ongoing commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for our students shines through in everything you do. We appreciate all of your efforts.
