LAMBERT
October 2026 Edition

Dear Longhorn Families,
I sincerely hope all of our Longhorn families were able to rest and relax over Fall Break!
It's hard to believe, but we are quickly approaching the end of the first quarter of the school year. To help students stay on top of assignments and time manage, we have a Q1 Missing Assignment Deadline. In the past, many students would allow missing work to pile up until the end of the semester and scramble to get it in at the last minute. Our hope is that designating incremental due dates each quarter will help students better manage their time and missing work, along with instilling in them the life skill of meeting deadlines. Please partner with us by reminding your student of this new expectation and encouraging them to complete all missing assignments from Q1 by Monday, October 12.
October is a busy month, so please read each section below to stay on top of all the events happening at Lambert!
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. We are grateful to walk alongside you in making Lambert a place where our students lead well, live well, and love well.
Sincerely,
Amanda Thrower
Principal

PROGRAMS AND PATHWAYS NIGHT
On Thursday, November 5th, Lambert will be hosting a night for parents and students to come explore all the specialized programs we offer to students. Families will have an opportunity to visit program classrooms, talk to program teachers, and tour our labs spaces. Current students in the programs will speak about the unique opportunities within the different courses and their leadership development.
We will have representatives available specifically for the following programs:
- Career Tech (CTAE)
- Fine Arts (FA)
- World Languages (WL)
The night is geared primarily for rising 9th graders, but if your student is interested in any of the above programs, feel free to attend at the time assigned to your last name (see graphic below for details).
This will also be a good opportunity for families to hear about all of Lambert’s Career Tech Student Organizations (CTSO), World Language Honor Societies, as well as Fine Arts, Visual Arts Honor Societies, and Performing Arts organizations students can get involved in at LHS!
2027-2028 OUT OF DISTRICT REQUEST INFORMATION
The OOD Portal for the 2027-2028 school year will be open October 5, 2026 – November 13, 2026.
Parents/guardians and students are encouraged to:
Reference the High School Course Digest to help guide pathway and program decisions.
Attend FCS Pathway Motive8 Night (see flyer below).
Join us for Lambert’s Programs and Pathway Night on November 5th
Important Reminders:
Attending a school other than the assigned “home” school may result in loss of eligibility under Georgia High School Association (GHSA) rules. Parents of students who participate in athletics should consult with the County Athletic Director before applying for an OOD transfer. GHSA rules on transferring can be found on pages 19–23 of the GHSA Constitution.
No OOD requests/transfers will be permitted for rising Juniors or Seniors.
Students approved for an OOD transfer for a CTAE pathway or specialty CTAE program are expected to remain in that program through completion. Forsyth County Schools reserves the right to revoke OOD status if the student discontinues enrollment in the program or pathway.
For more information and to access the district’s OOD request form, visit: Forsyth County Schools – Out of District.
MIDTERMS - PLAN ACCORDINGLY
We highly encourage our families NOT to plan trips on midterm exam dates. Midterms cannot be administered early, and making them up after the long break does not set students up for optimal success. Thank you in advance for planning accordingly.
- Tuesday, 12/15
- Wednesday, 12/16
- Thursday, 12/17
- Friday, 12/18
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
While we understand absences are occasionally necessary for students, we implore our Lambert families to make class attendance a priority.
There are numerous reasons for this:
- School attendance is vital to academic success. The research behind academic achievement and school attendance is undisputable. Our state and district leaders put laws and policies in place to support this correlation.
- Our attendance rates impact our CCRPI scores. This means that we are evaluated, as a public school in Georgia, based on our attendance rates. Lambert is a premiere school, and we want to maintain that standing.
- Our district publishes school calendars well in advance for families to make travel plans, and we have many long breaks throughout the year, in addition to a long summer, for extended trips.
- Student attendance is a spotlighted data point at the top of student transcripts for colleges to consider in the application review process. Colleges want students with healthy attendance practices.

Additionally, as a reminder, for the health and safety of students and staff please remember to adhere to the Forsyth County Illness guidelines of meeting the following criteria before returning to school and/or school activities:

Your child must be free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for a full 24-hour period, without the use of medication.
