SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Name: Alyson Herfel
Parents: Jolene and Jason Herfel
Siblings: Emma (college Freshman)
Plans after high school: I plan to attend a University of Wisconsin La Crosse. I am currently undecided on my major. I also plan to participate in intramural sports.
Most Memorable STMA Moment: My most memorable experience was participating in Gymnastics my Sophomore year. The Gymnastic team that year has a very successful season with hopes to be the first team from STMA to go to state. It was so fun and exciting to be part of a team that qualified for state the first time. It was an experience I will never forget.
Teacher Who Has Impacted Me: The teacher who has impacted me the most is Ms. Marschel from the Math department. She pays attention to all of her students and cares about how they are doing personally and in her class.
I Love STMA Because: I love STMA because of the opportunities it has given me as a three sport athlete and the memories that I have made. I have built great relationships that will last a lifetime with other athletes and coaches.
Name: Jedidiah Wester
Parents: Michele and Clint Wester
Siblings: Isabella (23) Micaela (24)
Plans after high school: I am a wrestling commit at the University of Minnesota with plans to major in Kinesiology.
Most Memorable STMA Moment: My most memorable moment at STMA was at a homecoming pep fest when a buddy of mine was a finalist in musical chairs. The contest came down to him and another student. When the music stopped my buddy pulled the chair right out from the other student to win. No one could believe he did that. We were all in shock and the crowd went nuts.
Teacher Who Has Impacted Me: A teacher who has impacted me is Mr. Joriman. He has been my wrestling coach here at the High School as well as a mentor at Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). He has been impactful in my time at STMA.
I Love STMA Because: I love STMA because of the acceptance by all. I was a transfer student in 8th grade and everyone was so welcoming and made me feel right at home from day one.

MENTAL HEALTH
Mental Health
Being self-aware means knowing what’s important to you—what makes you tick—and living in ways that are consistent with that. If you know what’s important to you and use that to make decisions about how to spend your time, you’ll be more likely to feel at ease, successful, happy and well. What are values? Why are they important? Why is it important for you to be clear about your own values?
A lot of people talk about “finding life balance.” For adults, it’s often about work and family. For you, it might mean having a good mix of school, activities, time with friends and family, and time to just relax.
What sometimes gets missed in this conversation is talking about values, practicing gratitude, sleep and self care. These are essential focus areas of our mental health.

Standardized Test Options for Juniors
Each year St. Michael-Albertville High School offers Juniors an opportunity to take a college entrance exam during the school day. This year, we will continue to offer the ACT (non-writing version), Accuplacer, and ASVAB exams to students. These exams are open to juniors enrolled at STMA High School, Knights Academy, and/or STMA Online. Parents received a letter with this information at the beginning of January. Juniors are not required to take any of these exams, and please note that the ACT is no longer free of charge as it was in past years. Registration is due BEFORE Monday, February 5th, there will not be any late registration opportunities.
Junior Planning
As Juniors enter into the final trimester of their junior year, it is important to start thinking about their future after high school. Check out the Junior Planning Information on the Student Support Website page for resources and timelines. You can also find the Parent Junior Planning Presentation on this page if you missed this session on conference night.
