Happy Halloween!
As a parent of two young children and a Principal to many more, I am so thankful Halloween is on a Friday this year. We had a fun afternoon with the parade and Trunk or Treat. Thank you to our PTO and all those who participated and joined us for our parade.
We have a lot to celebrate this month! Our school received a Commendable designation on our school report card. As a reflective leader, I am able to use that information and other information gathered to create a more effective school climate and ultimately a better Walker. We will continue to leverage all of our resources, plan strategically, and meet the needs of all of our students. We will continue to celebrate all our student successes, build trust within the community, collaborate with parents, and reflect on our practices.
Thank you so much for all your support and partnership!
Walker has its annual school board spotlight on November 11, 2025 @ 7PM.. During my brief presentation, I will share why we are so proud of our school community. I hope you can make it.
Enjoy your wonderful weekend!
In Partnership,
Mr. Jeff Moore, Walker Principal

Social Work Corner- Mrs. Heumann
Students have been learning about responsibility, safety, and the importance of using words instead of actions to express themselves. We discussed how being responsible means making good choices, following directions, and keeping ourselves and others safe. Students practiced ways to use kind and respectful words when they feel upset or frustrated. It’s been wonderful to see them growing in their ability to communicate and problem-solve in positive ways!

School Information and Procedures
Attendance Matters
Students who attend school regularly feel more connected to their school community and are more engaged in learning. As a result, they are more likely to earn better grades and test scores and have greater chances of graduating and achieving postsecondary success.
It is crucial to start setting good attendance habits in the child's first year in school. Preschoolers who are chronically absent are likely to continue to be chronically absent as they get older in school. From pre-K through high school, poor attendance can negatively affect students socially and emotionally:
- They feel out of place
- They fall behind in their work
- They miss meaningful opportunities that can inspire their future
- They have a hard time working with others
- They don't see how school is connected to their future success
Students who are chronically absent are more likely to have low grades and test scores and are less likely to be on track for high school graduation.
