A Message from the Principal
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
First things first, thank you to all those special women in our lives, the mothers and grandmothers who were our first teachers and the gentle voices in our hearts that help to guide us. Thank you!
May is on the move! Don't blink....these next two months go fast. Just look at this past week and all the events we had! Special thank you to all of the families that came out to the Brain Show, Parent Council, and the Walk to School Day. I know it's such a busy time of year with all the spring sports and activities. Here's some additional things to put out there to focus on:
- MCAS went well last week. The 3rd and 4th Graders worked hard on their math exams. Grade 5 has Math MCAS on the 13th and 14th this week. Science will be the week after.
- May 12th is an early release day. Dismissal is at 11:50AM as it is a staff development day.
- As we near the end of the school year, our staff will begin the class placement process for next year's classes. Please take a few minutes and complete the parent placement questionnaire as we value your input in this process.
- Teacher Appreciation Week was a hit! Thank you for all the extra love this week as we celebrated our incredible staff!
- Lip Sync is May 14, 2026 at the Chapman Middle School Auditorium. The event is 6-8PM! I am so excited to see the students perform on that giant auditorium stage.
- Reminder to 5th Grade families, please be sure to complete your 5th Grade residency check. The deadline is May 29th.
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and thank you for all of the support!
Mr. Patrick J. Higgins
Principal

Playground Etiquette
Playground Expectations
As the weather continues to improve, we are so excited to see our Academy families using the playground after school. Consistency is so important for our students that we find it important to share with you our playground expectations that we provide to the students during the school day. We hope this carries over to after school and beyond:
Everyone plays – Every game is open to whoever wants to play as long as those playing are being safe, respectful and responsible during the game. Including others are expected behaviors.
Play safe – Students must play so that they and others are not physically or emotionally hurt. Students must avoid rough play, unsafe play, and name-calling. Examples of unsafe play include jumping from the top of the play structure or sliding into someone still on or near the end of the slide.
Be Respectful- Students will listen and follow directions. They will be kind and provide other students an opportunity to use the play structure. Keep hands and feet to themselves. Please stay away and out of the woods and please remember to keep sticks and stones on the ground and away from the play areas. Ball play should be reserved to the baseball field and away from the play structures.
