DCSC Construction Update
Update #26
August 2026
School may not have been in session, but the DCSC campus was still bustling with activity this summer! Our new transportation building is officially complete, the high school made a TON of progress, and the new administration building addition is moving through all the right phases.
In fact, there isn’t a single building on our campus that didn’t see some sort of improvement while we were away! We can’t wait to see all of these projects come together as we continue Building a Successful Future.
Keep reading for more detailed updates and photos of our progress!
High School Progress
Over the summer, our crews completed (or nearly completed) the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) space, the new business suite, the temporary cafeteria, a new art space, the planetarium, and a few other spaces (including most of the main gym renovation and new life skills space - both of which will be completed very soon!). They are now moving onto the greenhouse, cafeteria, auditorium, and other various corridors throughout the building. Even some of the "completed" spaces will continue to see additional design work and small improvements as the year goes on!
Greenhouse
The greenhouse is another space that has remained largely untouched for years. This renovation will give students more room to learn, grow, and work in a space that’s updated to better meet their needs. Looks like future plant sales could be bigger and better than ever!
Cafeteria
The cafeteria everyone knew and loved is officially under construction! In the photo above, crews are working on the underground electrical as the renovation gets underway. When complete, the space will feature a more modern design, additional seating, and a much more efficient layout. We can’t wait to see this space come together!
Main Gym
Auditorium
The auditorium saw plenty of progress this summer, including new lighting and duct work! This space needs quite a few smaller updates, and crews are working through them in a way that minimizes disruptions for our performers.
While most of the renovations will pause for now, the auditorium will close down again next summer for additional work and will be ready for action when the new school year begins!
Planetarium
Who remembers this space from when they were a kid?! Danville is incredibly fortunate to have such a unique and innovative space where students can learn, explore, and discover. Over the years, though, the chairs had started to fall apart, and the room needed several cosmetic and safety updates. This summer, our crews brought the space back to life, and it’s now ready to welcome another generation of eager astronomers!
FACS
This space now features an Early Childhood Development classroom, a new Culinary Arts professional lab, a foods lab, and another FACS classroom! Much of the equipment in the old space was outdated, and the classrooms were becoming too small to comfortably accommodate the number of students enrolled. Now, the space is larger, more modern, and equipped with tools that meet current industry standards. These updates will give our students more room to learn and hands-on experiences that better prepare them for opportunities beyond the classroom!
Transportation
Our new Transportation Building is COMPLETE!!! This new space provides much-needed additional office space, gives our bus drivers a dedicated area for large-group training and a place to sit between routes, and provides our mechanics with updated space and tools for repairs. The project also includes a safer, more efficient bus lot and gives our Transportation Department the updated facility they have long deserved! We are so happy with the results and can’t wait to see our drivers and mechanics continue to make the most of this incredible new space!
Administration Building
If you’ve passed by the Administration Building lately, you’ve probably seen what looks like a whole new building! Right now, crews are working on the addition, which includes office and meeting space (including a new board room) built onto the current structure.
As shown in the photos below, the current building will remain, with some light interior upgrades to improve its function. The new addition will include several new offices, allowing us to bring more administrative staff together under one roof. This will ultimately free up space for students in our school buildings and strengthen collaboration across our entire administrative team.
We are so excited to see this project take shape!
