Oxford Middle School is committed to supporting academic progress and students' social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
Again this year at OMS, we will be completing a universal screening tool to assess the academic, social, and emotional learning skills of all students. The Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS) is a tool that measures common behavioral criteria in Social Behavior, Academic Behavior, and Emotional Behavior. The data will be used internally to look for trends across the school and grade levels and to develop instructional next steps to support students. As with all student data, we maintain strict levels of confidentiality.
In the next few weeks, both students and teachers will use SAEBRS. The screener will ask students 19 questions (questions are below). This will take place in Advisory during the month of October. The screener is taken on a Chromebook and will last no longer than 10 minutes. In addition, each student will have one teacher complete a rating scale for him/her. To complete each SAEBRS item, the teacher will indicate how frequently the student has displayed each behavior (as described within each item) during the previous month.
Students and teachers are not new to screeners. At OMS, we use FastBridge/STAR for reading and math three times a year. This data is collected to help plan academic interventions and accelerated classes for students.
No student will be required to complete the SAEBRS screener and there is no penalty for students who do not complete the survey. We just ask that you complete this form by 10/8/25 if you want to opt your student out from taking the 2025 Social, Academic, Emotional, Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS).

Heart Safe School with Project Adam
As part of being a Heart Safe School, we regularly practice our emergency response plan with trained staff. This Wednesday, we will conduct a HOLD Drill. During the drill, our OMS Cardiac Team will partner with the Oxford Fire Department to rehearse procedures, communication, and response times.
What to expect:
- The drill will occur during regular school hours.
- Instruction will continue in classrooms; hallways will be cleared during the HOLD.
- No impact on arrival/dismissal times.
- No student action beyond following staff directions.

Parking Lot Procedures:
The arrows indicate the directional flow of traffic during student drop-off.
Blue arrows indicate the drop-off zone for students.
When you pull into the blue arrow drop-off zone, please pull as far ahead as possible before having your student exit the vehicle.
*Do not pull up to the main building walkway and stop if there is space ahead*
If you elect to walk your student(s) to the building entrance, please park in an empty space and walk your student to the sidewalk. You will need to re-enter the traffic flow in the yellow arrow section.
