All About Midtown Community School
Volume 5 - Community Partnerships
We hope your family has had a joyful summer season so far! We're already preparing for the 2026-2027 school year, and we're so glad that your family is joining us at Midtown Community School!
This spring we began a series of emails for our interested and newly enrolling families. Each email features a different aspect of our program and hopefully will help you feel better informed and more at ease with your family’s transition to MCS.
In this edition, Dr. Danielle Miles, our Superintendent, will be discussing some of the ways our school partners with other Kansas City organizations to ensure that we're providing students and families with the best opportunities and services possible.
If you need help completing your family's registration or have any questions at all, please call or text Katy Lineberry, Enrollment Coordinator, at (816)550-5276 or email her at katy.lineberry@midtowncommunityschool.org. If you have not yet submitted your child's online registration and required documentation, please do so as soon as possible. Schoolwide communication through Infinite Campus will start soon and we want to ensure your family is sent valuable information, but this will not happen unless your child's enrollment is complete.
Please note that we are finishing the process of migrating to our new website address, email addresses, etc. If you run into any outdated links in the weeks to come, please reach out!
Also, don't forget - many of your questions about uniforms, dropoff/pickup, before/after-school care, school supply lists, etc., can be answered by exploring our Family Dashboard on our website!

Finally, if your plans for this year have changed, please be sure to let us know as soon as possible so that we can release your child's spot and invite another family to join the community!
Growing through Community Collaborations
from Dr. Danielle Miles, Superintendent
At Midtown Community School, we believe learning extends beyond the walls of our school. Strong community partnerships enrich the educational experience by providing students and families with meaningful opportunities, valuable resources, and supportive relationships that help every child thrive.
Our mission is to foster a culture of belonging and academic excellence that supports the development of well-rounded individuals. We believe students thrive when they are known, challenged, and developed as whole people - intellectually, emotionally, physically, and internally.
Guided by our core values of Belonging, Growth, Wholeness, and Community, we partner with organizations that share our commitment to developing the whole child and preparing students to lead with purpose while making a positive impact in their community.
Caring for Kids Network
Midtown Community is proud to partner with Caring for Kids Network, an organization that helps schools build strong, sustainable partnerships with churches, businesses, civic groups, and nonprofit organizations. Caring for Kids Network works alongside school leaders to identify school goals and connect community partners who can help meet those needs.
Through its four-step process - Engage, Connect, Empower, and Coach - Caring for Kids Network helps bring partners together around the question, “How can we help?” This partnership supports Midtown Community’s commitment to belonging, growth, wholeness, and community by strengthening the network of support around our students, families, and school.
Lead to Read
Midtown Community School partners with Lead to Read to cultivate a love of literacy and strengthen reading skills. Volunteer reading mentors build meaningful relationships with students while encouraging confidence and a lifelong appreciation for reading.
Children's Services Fund of Jackson County
Our partnership with the Children's Services Fund of Jackson County supports the well-being of our students by providing access to services that address social, emotional, and mental health needs. Together, we help ensure students have the support they need to grow, overcome challenges, and succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Operation Breakthrough
Midtown Community School is proud to partner with Operation Breakthrough to provide high-quality Pre-K classrooms for three- and four-year-old students. Through this partnership, our youngest learners receive a strong early childhood foundation in a nurturing environment that prepares them for future academic success.
As students grow, our partnership continues through the use of Operation Breakthrough's innovative Maker Space, where our middle school students participate in engaging elective courses that foster creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and hands-on problem-solving.
Camp Fire Afterschool Program
Camp Fire provides engaging afterschool programming for MCS students. Through enrichment activities, mentorship, academic support, and creative experiences, students continue learning beyond the school day in a safe and supportive environment. The program is hosted at our school, and additional registration information will be shared with families this summer.
Royals Literacy League
Midtown Community School is proud to partner with the Royals Literacy League to inspire a love of reading and strengthen literacy skills. Through literacy events, book distributions, and engaging educational opportunities, students are encouraged to become confident readers and lifelong learners.
SchoolSmartKC and Show Me KC Schools
Our partnerships with SchoolSmartKC and Show Me KC Schools help families access valuable educational information and resources. Together, we support families as they explore school options and connect with opportunities that help students achieve success.
At MCS, our community partnerships reflect our commitment to developing the whole child. By working alongside organizations that share our mission and values, we create experiences that support students' academic growth, character development, and overall well-being.
Together, we are building a school community where every student experiences belonging, embraces growth, develops wholeness, and contributes positively to the community around them.
