Ramadan
As we step into the sacred month of Ramadan, we extend our warmest wishes to all students, staff, and families observing this special time. Ramadan is a month of reflection, kindness, and spiritual growth, observed by Muslims around the world. It is a time for fasting from dawn to sunset, strengthening connections with family and community, and practicing generosity and gratitude.
At Oasis Academy Enfield, we are committed to fostering an environment of understanding, respect, and inclusion. We encourage all students to support their fasting peers with kindness and empathy and to embrace the values of patience and togetherness that this month brings.
For those who are fasting, we recognise the dedication and resilience it takes, especially while balancing school and other responsibilities. If you need any support during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to your teachers or pastoral team.
As we embark on this month of reflection and renewal, we wish everyone celebrating a Ramadan Mubarak! May this month bring you peace, joy, and many blessings.
World Book Day - Thursday 6th March
Dress Up for World Book Day
World Book Day is all about the fun of reading – because it seriously improves lives. Dressing up is a great way to encourage students to enjoy reading. It’s a creative way to express what they like about reading, it sparks imagination and makes reading sociable and fun.
We are therefore encouraging OAE students to dress up as their favourite character from their favourite book on Thursday 6th March. There will be prizes for the best dressed in each year group.
When choosing your character, think about:
- The type of reading – are you dressing up as a graphic novel, comic, audiobook, or non-fiction?
- What you want to share – something a character says or does, a top fact, the way a character behaves, or something else?
If students choose not to dress up, they must come in full school uniform as normal. The Academy reserves the right to request that students change into their uniform, if the costume is deemed to be inappropriate.

International Women's Day - 7th March 2025
#Accelerate Action
Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge gender equality. Collectively for #IWD2025 we can all #AccelerateAction.
International Women's Day (IWD) has been around for over a hundred years, as have many of the issues still impacting women's advancement. Since 1911, IWD belongs to all who care about women's equality. Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness about discrimination. Take action to forge gender parity. All IWD activity is valid, that's what makes IWD so inclusive.
At OAE we are celebrating IWD on Friday 7th March. Students are invited to wear an item of purple alongside their academy uniform. They will be taking part in a range of activities over the course of the day, to raise awareness about discrimination and support inclusivity.
Shrove Tuesday - Tuesday 4th March
Pancake Day
The UK has a fairly unique tradition known as “Shrove Tuesday” that comes the day before Lent begins and is 47 days before Easter Sunday.
Historically, people needed to use up all eggs, butter, and sugar just before Lent as these food items were to be given up during the fasting period. It therefore made the most sense to make pancakes, and so began the tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday was born.
KS4 Geography Fieldtrip
As part of their GCSE Geography course, KS4 students braved the cold weather last week, when they went on a field trip to Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex to study coastal management. They had the opportunity to apply classroom-learned coastal management concepts in a real-world setting, which will help them perform well on their Paper 3 exam, which makes up 30% of their GCSE grade.
Their activities included examining the geology of the 3 million-year-old coast, measuring sediment at the groynes to assess their effectiveness in preventing longshore drift, and evaluating beach profiles using systematic sampling. Students also completed environmental quality surveys and observed processes including erosion, which can remove up to one metre of land annually there. For some of our students, it was their first time visiting a beach and they thoroughly enjoyed it!

School Policies - Our Expectations and Standards
Uniform
Students are expected to attend the Academy in full school uniform each day. Items that do not meet with the uniform policy, including hoodies, will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the week. Students will be rewarded with L points for consistently meeting our high standards and C points if they are choosing to persistently fail to meet our high standards. If your child has a uniform issue, please contact the Academy via info@oasisenfield.org and we will support them to be dressed correctly each day. This is located in the Oasis Community Space on the A floor and is open from 8am - 8.20am each day.
Full uniform details are found on our website:
Community Expectations

Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield
Our ethos is rooted in what we believe and who we are. Grounded in our story, it is an expression of our character; a set of values that inform and provide the lens on everything we do.
- A passion to include
- A desire to treat people equally respecting differences
- A commitment to healthy, open relationships
- A deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed
- A sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul
It is these ethos values that we want to be known for and to live by. We are committed to a model of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of every Oasis Hub and academy community.
We encourage every member of our family, be that staff or student, to align themselves to these ethos values. The values themselves are inspired by the life, message and example of Jesus but we make it clear that we will not impose on anyone, the beliefs that underpin our ethos values. We recognise and celebrate the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community, respecting the beliefs and practices of other faiths in the hope that we will provide a welcoming environment for all.
