Cardinal Call

This week is a short week for our Cardinals. Students have off for Thanksgiving break Wednesday through Friday. We hope everyone is able to enjoy this time away from school to relax and refresh. Due to the short week, this week's Cardinal Call will serve as information for both the week of November 24 and December 1.

5th Hour Tutoring is up & running for 2025-2026! 5th Hour Tutoring runs Tuesdays - Thursdays from 3:50-4:40PM in the LMC, with teachers from English, math, science, social studies, art, and more available to work with students. Students are able to take the activity bus (which leaves at 4:45PM) home after 5th Hour tutoring.

Do you have a SP HS cap/gown sitting around? The high schools are seeking caps and gowns in good shape, for students in need! Graduation caps and gowns in good shape for SPE (Red) or SPW (Blue) can be dropped off that school's front office. Thank you for helping our kids celebrate this monumental moment!

Seniors: The local scholarship application is now open. The deadline to complete is January 30th. This is a great opportunity to be considered for scholarships that are only available to Sun Prairie students. Click here to access the application.

Ms. Albright will be hosting two WIN sessions on December 4th and December 11th to walk students through the local scholarship process and share helpful tips for finding additional outside scholarships.

Winter sports and activities are now fully underway for 2025/2026. Best of luck to all our students who are participating.

Sun Prairie East's Model UN team participated in the Carthage College Model United Nation conference at Carthage College in Kenosha. The conference was attended by hundreds of students from Wisconsin and Illinois. All students performed well and a few walked away with awards. Owen Butcher (2nd place) and Penelope Schlotz (3rd place) were recognized for their portrayal of Greece in the General Assembly. Noah Galligan was recognized with 2nd place for best position paper and 1st place for their portrayal of Greece on the Security Council.

Sun Prairie East girls swim team ended their season with a successful run at the state meet. Cardinal Senior Samantha Camp capped her standout career with her fourth straight state appearance, placing 9th in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley relay team of Becca Elliott, Elena Budde, Natalie Brandl, and Samantha Camp earned 16th place, while the 400 freestyle relay team of Elliott, Budde, Elaina Nicodemus, and Camp secured 20th place. Great season swimmers!

As winter sports kick off, now is a great time to secure your athletic passes if you don’t have one! If you plan to attend multiple games this season, a pass is the easiest and most cost-effective way to enjoy all the action.

As we begin hosting our first indoor winter competitions next week, please remember to be a positive representative of Sun Prairie East Athletics and display good sportsmanship. We expect all parents and fans to model positive sportsmanship by showing respect for officials, coaches, players, and fellow spectators at every game. Let’s work together to create a supportive and spirited environment that reflects the pride and values of our school community.

Our athletes and families are invited to join Influential Athlete’s monthly virtual NIL Masterclasses to learn how to navigate NIL safely while maximizing opportunities and building skills for life after sports. Sessions take place on the last Tuesday of every month (except December) at 6 PM CST.
