The SUMMER Scoop

Dear Chugach Families,

It’s hard to believe that we’ve put the wraps on another school year here at Chugach. I would like to sincerely thank all of you for the hard work and dedication that you have put into making our school a truly magical place for children to learn and grow. Without the help of our families, the staff at Chugach could not do the wonderful project-based learning that we do.

I know we have had some challenges this year with our staffing, and I want to thank everyone who has (and continues to) advocate to our school board and local and state representatives for the important role that Chugach plays in our community and as part of the Anchorage School District. My commitment to all of you is to continue speaking up and representing Chugach at every level I can.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic (and hopefully warm) summer, and I will look forward to seeing everyone in August.

We are up to 75.3% returning students registered for the 2026-2027 school year. WOW!

Have you registered your returning Chugach Student Yet?

Early online registration is very important for several reasons. First, it helps support accurate enrollment data, which is essential for maintaining as complete a staffing structure as possible during this challenging budget season. In addition, Family Group lists for the next school year cannot be finalized until all returning students are registered.

If you need help locating your Parent Connect PIN, please contact the front office at 907-742-3730. Kelsey and Carrie will be available to assist families through Friday, May 29. If you know your PIN but have forgotten your password, please use the “Reset Your Password” option on the Parent Connect login page.

Once logged into Parent Connect, click the registration link under the “ASD Quick Links” tab. If registration has not yet been completed, you will see a red message that says, “Online Registration 2026 Incomplete.” Registration is complete when the message changes to green and says “Online Registration for 2026 Complete.”

Incoming kindergarten students who are new to ASD may begin the first step of enrollment through online pre-enrollment. Families will need to upload the following documents:
• Proof of Age (Birth Certificate)
• Immunization Records
• Proof of Residency

Once submitted, we will process the pre-enrollment and notify you when you are able to complete full registration for your student, per the process above. Please note: Pre-enrollment will close for the summer on May 29 and will reopen on July 15.

Important: If you know your student will not be returning to Chugach next year, please notify the front office as soon as possible so additional seats may be offered to incoming families through the lottery process.

Care instructions and signup sheet can be found here. Please sign up for the entire week and care for our chickens each day that you have signed up for. If families would like to coordinate sharing a slot, they are welcome to do so.

Throughout the school year, when we have ‘check-out’ time, we call it ‘love of library’.

During this time, we check out books, read books, explore books that we haven’t looked at yet.

I want to encourage students and families to continue their ‘love of library’ throughout the summer.

This could be reading books from your home, reading books from our public library or e-books online. This will support your reader to continue to grow.

Our public library has tons of books as well as sponsoring the Summer Discovery program.

ASD has e-books and audiobooks available for our students.

They can access through Clever or through the following directions.

How to access ASD digital library - SORA

Here’s an idea! Start a family book club. Choose a book and invite family members to join - invite grandparents or family/friends from Outside to join you. You can ‘zoom’ and talk about the book together.

Thank you for continuing to look for any missing library books over the summer.

We will revisit this in August when we come back to school.

The annual request for our "Early Release" Fridays has been submitted to ASD and the Department of Education and Early Development. While we are still awaiting final approval for the 2026-2027 school year, the TENTATIVE early release Friday dates are listed below.

Medications and Care Plans for Next School Year

• Medication and Care Plan Forms can be found HERE.

• These forms must be updated annually.

**Note- prescription medication forms and Care Plans require a healthcare provider's signature

• If there are any changes in your child’s health, please update that information during online registration. A new diagnosis or starting a new medication is helpful for myself and your child's teacher to be aware of.

Total Hours of Logged Parent Volunteer Time for 2025-2027: 7354 hours!

That is a average of 193.5 hours per week!
