From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
The school wrapped up our Olympic reading incentive this week and the students had a great time representing various countries around the world, reading and earning medals for their classrooms! Next week we are celebrating that success with a Read Across America Spirit week! Student should have come home with a flyer but please see the themed days attached below.

Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author, and motivational speaker, will be assisting our schools in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:
• Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
• Safety rules at home and school
• Saying “NO”
• Safe/Unsafe Secrets
• It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
• Telling a trusted adult
Mr. Pacini and his team, will be presenting at our schools on Friday, March 6. Each grade level will participate in an assembly for approximately 30 minutes. The content can be previewed here: https://www.childhoodvictories.com/offers/qmjwe83e/checkout

We’ve recently seen a few cases of the “stomach bug” at school, and handwashing is one of the best ways to help stop the spread. Please remind your child to wash their hands with soap and water before eating, after using the bathroom, and after coughing or sneezing. These simple habits make a big difference in keeping our school community healthy and feeling their best.

Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
