CHRISTIAN VALUE OF THIS HALF-TERM

We are proud to be a Church of England school

Out vision is, 'Learning and growing in the love of God' (1 John 4:16)

We focus on one Christian value each half-term. This term, the focus of collective worship and wider school activiites is on 'Responsibility.'

NEW LEARNING

It is with considerable pleasure that we write to share with you the exciting developments and learning opportunities that are currently unfolding across our Federation. As we progress through this academic term, we are delighted to highlight the rich and diverse educational experiences that our pupils are engaging with, experiences that continue to exemplify our commitment to providing a broad, balanced, and inspiring curriculum.

In Class 1, our youngest learners have embarked upon a fascinating new topic entitled 'What can you create with woodland objects?' This enquiry-based approach to learning will provide our pupils with the invaluable opportunity to explore the work of the renowned artist Andy Goldsworthy, whose innovative use of natural materials has captivated audiences worldwide.

Class 2 are learning about, "What makes the Yorkshire coastline?" They are identifying the human and physical features of our local coastal towns, learning about how erosion is changing the landscape and will consider how tourism can impact an area in both positive and negative ways.

Class 3 pupils are already delving into one of the most captivating periods of English history. Through their comprehensive study of Tudor England, our pupils are exploring the fundamental question: "What was life like under Henry VIII?" Our young historians will develop a deep and nuanced understanding of this fascinating and tumultuous era.

Particularly noteworthy is our pupils' exploration of the artistic legacy of the Tudor court through their detailed study of Hans Holbein's masterful portraits. This interdisciplinary approach allows our pupils to examine how this renowned artist portrayed character, wealth, and power through his sophisticated artistic techniques. This artistic dimension of their learning provides them with unique insights into how visual representation was used to communicate status, authority, and identity in sixteenth-century England.

We love learning, exploring new things and working together

YOUR HELP

As we continue to foster the strongest possible partnership between home and school, I wanted to take this opportunity to address an important matter regarding communication with our teaching staff. Your ongoing support and understanding in this area is invaluable to maintaining the high standards of education we strive to deliver at Sledmere and Wetwang Federation.

I would like to respectfully remind all parents and carers that when you need to speak with a teacher regarding your child's progress, concerns, or any other educational matters, it is essential that you arrange an appointment through our school office rather than attempting to engage with staff during the busy drop-off or pick-up periods. This approach ensures that both you and our teachers can have the focused, uninterrupted conversation that your child's education deserves.

Our office team are always ready to facilitate these appointments and will work with you to find mutually convenient times.

Thank you for your ongoing support in this matter.
