Popcorn Friday Poppers -NEEDED!
On the first Friday of each month the Lincoln students are treated to a popcorn snack - this has since been dubbed "Popcorn Friday" and is a favorite at Lincoln. To be able to continue this fun tradition we need help popping our fresh popcorn on the Thursday before. This is an activity we really need volunteer support to continue. Anyone can help - parents, guardians, grandparents, older siblings, etc. It can be a fun family activity as well! Actual popping time will be dependent on those who sign up, but can be anytime Thursday during school hours or after.
We have organized the sign ups into months to help us better plan throughout the year and ensure everyone has the schedule and can plan accordingly. It is separated out into grades with our 5th grade starting us off and working back down to our Kindergarten families.
Sign-ups for all months are available now! We hope you will help keep this tradition going for the students and have some fun with fellow Lincoln families. There is no experience necessary and training will be provided.
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Early Out- Release Days- Students Dismissed at 12:27 on these days
Dear Parents and Guardians,
For the 2026-27 school year, Fargo Public Schools (FPS) will implement four “early release” school days for learners. On these days, learners will be dismissed two hours early at each building. The early dismissal will allow our teaching staff to gather in an extended Professional Learning Community (PLC). The schedule for early release days is included below.
During these early release days, our teachers will be focusing on safety training, training on our new learner information system, analyzing student data, furthering implementation of Infinite Campus, setting goals for student learning, and reviewing and planning research-based instructional strategies for learners who need support and those who need enrichment. Teachers will collaborate with grade- or content-level peers to review, reflect, and learn from each other in meeting learners' needs.
We understand that early release days may cause some inconvenience for families, but this is an important step towards improving our teaching practices and ultimately benefiting our learners' learning outcomes. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.
The dates of the early outs are:

FPS- Messaging via Infinite Campus
Families,
The Campus Parent Portal is now open for the 2026-27 school year. Parents/Guardians can log in to access their student’s school schedule and check attendance, assignments, and grades.
The Campus Parent screen is organized with communication items on the right, menu options on the left, and student information in the center.
On the right side, Announcements will display general messaging. The Inbox will display messages sent to families by the school. Shortcuts will contain items of interest for a parent like teacher contact info, and access to online registration forms.
On the left side, the menu options provide access to a student’s daily class schedule, as well as attendance, assignments, grades, and the school calendar. As you click each menu item, details related to a student and topic will appear in the center of the screen. If you have multiple students associated with your Campus Parent account, you can switch between students using the dropdown next to the student name in the upper right of the screen.
At this time, parents may also choose to download the Campus Parent app from their phone’s App Store. Once downloaded, parents will be asked to search for the school district. Enter Fargo for the District Name, select North Dakota from the state list and click submit. From the list that appears, select Fargo Public School District. You will then be prompted to enter your Campus Parent username and password.
Thank you,
Ms. Kiser
Here Comes the Bus- Students received their Bus Tags on Friday
Dear Lincoln Families,
Fargo Public Schools uses “Here Comes the Bus” to track students who ride the bus. Students in grades K-5 who ride the bus will receive a bar-coded card; school staff will attach the card to a student’s backpack on the first day of school or the day that your child begins riding the bus. Students in grades 6-12 will use a student ID card to scan or input their lunch number on the bus keypad.
Students will scan each time they enter the bus. When students arrive at the school, they will not scan off the bus, but the bus driver will complete a walk-through of the bus to make sure all students are off the bus (this saves valuable time each morning). At the end of the school day, returning home, your student needs to scan on and off the bus. When students scan, we can, in real-time, know that they are either on the bus or have exited the bus. This provides another level of safety for our students. Please encourage your child to participate in the scanning process onto the bus in the morning and scanning both on and off the bus after school.
If your child needs a replacement card, please notify the school office. A replacement will be given to the child at their school.
Parents/guardians can download the “Here Comes the Bus” app, which notifies parents when their children are picked up and dropped off. Click here for instructions on how to set up Here Comes the Bus. Students can also download the app and view where their bus is located.
If you have any questions about this system, please call the school office.
Thank you,
Brad Johnson, Transportation Coordinator

Pick Up System from School for Cars and Day Cares
Our goal is to Teach-Love-Inspire All Students during the school day. We also want to make sure all students get home safe to you. We have made some changes!
Car riders- picking up in front of the school.
- Students will stay with their school staff until they are visually matched up with an approved adult to pick them. You can still walk up and pick up your child from their teacher standing out side.
- Families that stay in your car and want your student to come to them- You will have car tag. You will post this in the passenger front window. The Lincoln Staff member will match your car number to your student's backpack number and then dismiss them to you.
- You still need to use 9th Street as a ONE WAY at pick up and drop off times.
- If you have business in the office- park in the warming house parking lot not the street.
- Our goal is to reunite you with your child with our first priority as safely and then quickly
Reminder- 9th Street is a One Way After School
Let's work together and keep 9th Street in front of the school a ONE WAY after school so that traffic can flow quickly and we do not have kids in the street.
Thank you for your help on this!
Don't forget our South parking lot is now open so you can park there and walk up to connect with kids!

SORA- E-Books
The Fargo Public Schools (FPS) library and technology team would like to remind students, staff, and families of the wide variety of reading options offered by accessing our district e-book collection through Sora. We have a number of great opportunities and resources to encourage our students and staff to keep reading over the winter break!
Sora can be accessed on all student PLDs and on just about any other electronic device using the Sora app. Even older devices such as outdated phones that you may no longer use as a phone could still be used as a reading device with the Sora app. If you have a Fargo Public Library card, you can also access the public library e-book collection through your Sora account. If you have never accessed Sora before, check out these directions for how to access your school account!

Boys and Girls Club of the Red River Valley
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley - Monthly Newsletter September 2026
BGCRRV YOUTH OF THE MONTH
Youth of the Month is a Club-driven experience that aims to recognize and honor Club members who exemplify strong character and leadership. To achieve this recognition, the Club member will have consistently demonstrated growth and/or skill in the following areas: Character, Leadership, Responsibility, and Group Participation.
Our Club programs have resumed this recognition program for the school year and will announce the winners for September next month!
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT – Group Agreements:
At the start of each school year, Group Agreements are made with the Club members at each site. Group Agreements are a shared vision that a group creates in order to build an emotionally supportive environment. It is a tool that can bridge the gap between how Club members are feeling and how they want to feel. It’s important for youth who work together within a program area to complete the Group Agreements as a way to build a safe, positive emotional climate and bolster group connection within the program.
OUR SUMMER CLUBS IN ACTION
Clubs provide youth with experiences that build essential social-emotional and subject-specific skills in each of BGCA’s four priority outcome areas. This August, youth in BGC Club programs had the following experiences:
- Health & Wellbeing: 11,331 experiences with Emote Control; Healthy Habits; Huddle Time; Sports, Rec & Fitness
- Character & Leadership: 368 experiences with Leadership & Service
- Academic Success: 10,867 experiences with High Yield; Power Hour
- Life & Workforce Readiness: 647experiences with STEAM
BGCRRV Staff Trainings:
North Dakota State Licensing requires all childcare workers to complete annual training hours based on the number of hours worked each week. BGCRRV provides our employees with multiple training opportunities each month covering a variety of topics such as trauma-informed care, youth development best practices and building positive relationships. In 2026, 19 courses have been or will be offered to employees, along with six First Aid/CPR courses.

Title One documents
As a Title I school, Lincoln Elementary receives federal funds for Title I programs that are part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). As a recipient of these funds, Lincoln Elementary has committed itself to providing enriching learning activities for its stakeholders and sharing responsibility with both parents and students to improve academic achievement, as outlined in the School-Parent Compact. Additionally, Lincoln Elementary is required to notify parents of particular components outlined in the law. Through the Interactive Dashboard, parents are able to be notified regarding the performance measures outlined in the state’s accountability system. The Parents Right to Know document is also a valuable resource as it lays out what information parents have the right to request and ascertain from the school regarding topics like the professional qualifications of staff, state and local policy, and parental rights regarding student participation in mandated assessments. Additionally, the District School Parent and Family Engagement Policy outlines what actions FPS and the school will be taking to provide effective parent and family engagement activities to improve student achievement and school performance. Copies of each of these documents can be found below, and you are encouraged to read through them.
Annual Notification of Rights Under FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. Each year, the District must provide parents and eligible students notice of these rights under FERPA. View all rights afforded to parents and eligible students.
