BMMS 6th Graders Exceed Food Drive Goal and Celebrate with a Splash!
Berea-Midpark Middle School's 6th grade Firewalkers team was presented a challenge to collect 1,000 non-perishable food items to help stock the shelves of the Middleburg Heights Food Pantry located right within the school. Surpassing expectations, they not only met this goal but also collected an additional 264 items.
To celebrate and show gratitude for this display of empathy and giving, BMMS teachers Mrs. Hamilton, Mr. Pearl, Mr. Petrus, Mrs. Wrost, and Assistant Principal Ms. Prok joyfully agreed to be doused with buckets of water. The event, filled with laughter and cheers, left the students with lasting memories of their significant contribution.
Kudos to the Firewalkers for their excellent work in helping the Middleburg Heights Food Pantry continue to provide support to those in need. For more information on how you can donate to the Middleburg Heights Food Pantry, visit mhfoodpantry.org.
Be a Titan Recognition
Meet the remarkable students, staff, and community members who were spotlighted at November's board meeting during the first "Be a Titan" recognition event of the school year. These Titans have gone above and beyond, showcasing extraordinary dedication and achievement. Watch to discover their stories and celebrate their success.
Portrait to Practice
The Portrait of a Titan is a collective vision that articulates aspirations for ALL of our students. The Portrait identifies six key competencies that every student in the Berea City School District should possess by the time they graduate. These competencies are nurtured at every grade level. They are adaptable, communicator, critical thinker, empathetic, innovative, and leader. Our educators are inspiring students to cultivate these essential skills.
Innovative
Communicator
Students in the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council explored the communicator competency and compiled a Top 10 list of ways to be proactive communicators and partners in school communication. These lists included practices such as asking questions, participating in class discussions, providing feedback, understanding your audience, seeking clarification, and displaying positive body language.
Breaking Boundaries and Building Bonds: BMHS Holds 'Mix It Up Day'
Berea-Midpark High School held its annual 'Mix It Up Day' as part of a national movement. This day is dedicated to giving students the chance to step out of their usual social and academic circles to engage with peers they might not usually interact with.
Upperclassmen were paired with underclassmen, allowing them to experience each other's academic life for half a day. This event was more than just a day out of the ordinary routine. It was an effort to foster a more connected and empathetic student body, celebrating diversity across grade levels, social groups, races, religions, and genders. Students also had the chance to discover various academic offerings at our school, potentially sparking new academic interests.
The day ended with a presentation on gratitude by Mr. Terry Malone, followed by the annual Turkey Trot.
The Berea Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the 2nd Annual Gingerbread House Competition on Saturday, December 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event will be held in the cafeteria at Berea-Midpark Middle School, 7000 Paula Dr., Middleburg Heights.

The Berea Board of Education holds regular community conversations to give the public access to board members outside of the formal public participation setting of a meeting. Residents will have the opportunity to meet and discuss any concerns they may have with two board members during a 30 minute time-slot set aside prior to each regular scheduled Board of Education meeting. The goal of this effort is to more effectively connect with the public and learn more about the community.
