Free Solar Eclipse Glasses for Parents!

Do you need a pair of Solar Eclipse Glasses to view the eclipse? I got you covered. There will be a box of solar eclipse glasses, just for parents, on the front porch of Heritage ES Saturday morning. Please come by and take a pair, or 2. Compliments of your Heritage staff (just don't be the one that empties the whole bowl of candy on halloween)! All students will also receive a free pair of Solar Eclipse glasses, donated by Perot Science Museum. These glasses will be given to students by their teachers.

News from Coach Crane and Mrs. Jonker

Learning and fun, all rolled into one!

We kicked off our in-line skating unit for grades 3, 4 and 5 for the very first time and what a HUGE success! The students laced up and skated for physical fitness while also learning how STEM concepts are everywhere, even with in-line skating. Click on the link below for more info and pics

Hygiene Kit Items Needed

Our Kindness Ambassadors are sponsoring a Spring Hygiene Kit Drive to benefit those less fortunate. Our Spring drive will began on Tuesday, April 2 and ends on Wednesday, April 10. This year we are sponsoring the Salvation Army in Lewisville. At the Salvation Army-Lewisville, the supply of hygiene kits is running dangerously low. These kits are given to homeless and needy families in our area. They need help from the community to restock their Hygiene kits. Please help us by donating the below items! There are boxes on campus for students to put the items in.

Items requested to complete the Hygiene kits

  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Toothpaste and Toothbrush
  • Bar of soap
  • Razor and shaving cream
  • Sanitary pads and Tampons
  • Lotion or Vaseline

The Solar Eclipse

LISD plans to experience this historic event with students on April 8.

On Monday, April 8, Dallas will be the largest city in the path of totality for the once-in-a-lifetime Great North American Eclipse. We are excited to share this milestone with our students! Staff members are incorporating this event into their lesson plans to enhance the educational experience for all students. Review the following information regarding the district's plans for safe eclipse viewing:

Grades PreK-2
It is not recommended that our youngest students view the eclipse outside. Instead, PreK-2 students will have the opportunity to watch NASA's live stream of the eclipse. We encourage you to view NASA’s other online resources to explain this event to your students.

Grades 3-12
Students in grades 3-12 will have the option to view the eclipse outside. The Perot Museum has generously donated protective eyewear, which all students will be required to wear. For more information about how to view the eclipse safely, click here.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher. We look forward to celebrating this historic event!
