WVGSA
We are entering West Virginia General Summative Assessment time. Please emphasize these assessments to your student. Please encourage them to do their best on every test. These test give us valuable information on the instruction within the classroom and allow us to identify strengths and weaknesses for our school.
This year, we have set a goal to have a combined pass rate of 80% or higher on the English and Math GSAs. If students reach this goal, we will have a school-wide reward. The grade level with the highest combined rate, will receive an additional reward. We believe all of our students can demonstrate improvement and meet these goals!
If you have questions, please feel free to reach out. Together, we can continue to show that the MRMS community is the best place in Berkeley County!
Summer Technology
This year, we will be collecting all school issued devices for the summer. Parents may opt-in for their student to keep their device but must fill out the attached form by May 18th.

Honors classes
As we begin to prepare for next school year, we want to remind you about how students are placed in honors. For Honors classes in middle school, student performance on the WV GSA and the iReady diagnostic along with their attendance are factored into a matrix. Based on that score, students may qualify for honors classes. Students may qualify for honors in all classes or certain classes.
We do need to have a minimum number of students meet this threshold in order to have sections of honors classes. This allows us to maintain appropriate class sizes in all sections.
Please emphasize the importance of these assessments and how it could impact future classes.
If you have questions about this, please feel free to reach out.
CyberSWAT
Over the next month, students will be participating and completing courses about digit citizenship and safety. Some of these stories do contain sensitive topics such as sexual predators, sexting, cyberbullying and human trafficking. Our school counselor will be available for any student experiencing anxiety and trauma regarding these topics. These topics are meant to educate about the dangers online and how to recognize and address these situations.
Lunch
This year, students have 2 choices for their lunch. Some days, they get a choice of a salad as well. Please access the school menu:
