Absences

Please remember to send in an excuse if your child is absent from school. This excuse can be emailed, handwritten or submitted electronically using the absence form. Thank you for your help with this!

Regular attendance is critical to learning in the classroom. When your elementary or middle school child is absent from school, please note the following important reminders:

Inform the school within 48 hours to mark the absence as excused using one of these options:

  • Fill out the online absence form at humbleisd.net/attendancecontacts -or-

  • Email the campus attendance office -or-

  • Send in a paper note, or take a photo with your phone and send it to the attendance office -or-

  • Call the school’s attendance office

For medical or dental appointments:

  • Get a note at the appointment and upload it into the online absence form at humbleisd.net/attendancecontacts -or-

  • Turn it in to the attendance office within 48 hours.

Did You Know?

Dated health care appointment notes allow the school to mark your child present if they attended any part of the school day, such as before or after their appointment.

When students stay in school until 10 a.m. (Elementary) or 10:40 a.m. (Middle School), it ensures the school receives full funding for the day. Your support in ensuring your child’s attendance not only helps them academically, but also boosts the school’s success.

Thank you for partnering with us to provide the best educational experience for our students. For more information, please visit Important Attendance Information for Parents or view the Attendance Reminders for Elementary & Middle School flyer.

NURSE NOTES

Hey Bears! Here are a few clinic reminders!

Illness Info:

  • We need your help in maintaining a healthy environment for your children as well as the other children in our school. In an effort to avoid students in the clinic feeling ill first thing in the morning, please use the following guidelines when determining whether or not to send your child to school. Your child is missing valuable class time by being in the clinic if he or she is ill. If you have any questions about whether or not to send your child to school, please call the clinic.

If your student exhibits any of the following conditions, it is recommended they stay home:

  • Temperature of 100 ºFahrenheit or higher – measured without fever suppressing medication within the past 24 hours.

  • Vomiting in the past 24 hours

  • Diarrhea in past 24 hours (can return diarrhea free without diarrhea-suppressing medications for at least 24 hours)

  • Persistent, hacking cough

  • Continually runny nose with white, green, or yellow mucus

  • Eyes that appear swollen, red, and weeping

  • Strep throat - may return 24-48 hours after the antibiotic is started and fever has subsided per provider instructions.

  • Rash of unknown cause anywhere on the body

  • Scabies – exclude until treatment has begun

Absences:

Please call 281-641-1619, email Mr.Kuchta, or complete the BBE Absence google doc as soon as possible to report your child's absence. When your child returns to school, please send a note to excuse your child. If your child has an appointment with a health care provider, always get a school note from them.

Nutrition and Hydration:

** It is vital for your child to get plenty of rest and eat a nutritious breakfast in order to function at their best every day. They should also bring healthy snacks in class and a water bottle to refill throughout the school day to stay hydrated to prevent headache and stomach aches.**

Unmedicated special items such as sunscreen, insect repellent, lotion and lip balm:
  • Items must be clearly labeled with the student’s name in legible handwriting.

  • No sharing between students is allowed.

  • Aerosols or pumps are not allowed to be applied indoors due to the potential adverse effect on others in the vicinity during application.

  • Elementary students should have parent/guardian permission for these items confirmed by their teacher.

  • All students should be able to self apply.

Extra Clothes:
  • Bathroom, cafeteria, and playground accidents happen occasionally. Please keep a change of clothes in their backpacks, especially our K-2 Bears.

Clinic needs:
  • The clinic is always in need of donations, especially BOYS size 5/6 and 7/8 elastic shorts and new underwear!

Thank you for keeping our Bears healthy!

Annual Update

Annual Update for School Year 2024-2025 is required for all returning students. It is not required for newly enrolled students.

A returning student is any student who was actively enrolled on the last day of the 2023-2024 school year at any Humble ISD campus.

You are a current student even if you have moved within the Humble ISD boundaries and are attending a new campus in 2024-2025, or you are attending a new school due to promotion (i.e. moving from 5th grade elementary to attend 6th grade Middle School, or moving from 8th grade Middle School to attend 9th grade High School).

NOTE:
A PARENT/GUARDIAN (NOT student) HAC account is required to access Annual Update and update student registration information.

**Only 'Living With' guardians can access and submit the Annual Update. Please contact your campus registrar if you are unable to access the Annual Update.
