The Fowler Weekly

November 7-11

The FowlerWeeklyNovember 7-11

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Fowler Family,

It is Native American Heritage Month and we want to take a moment to honor and celebrate our students and families. We also acknowledge that this amazing land we live on was once solely inhabited by indigenous tribes.

On another note, quarter one is absolutely flying by and our last day of the grading quarter is Wednesday, November 9th. Please encourage your students to make sure all work that can still be turned in for feedback and grades is submitted to teachers. Additionally, please use the Canvas App and ParentVue to monitor grades, absences and tardies.

It was very frustrating to have to close restrooms down on Friday due to some poor behavior by a handful of students. We are addressing the students involved, taking away some privileges, and will work to improve individual behavior and decision making so students who are doing the right thing are not impacted.

Finally, our November conferences/family partnership days will begin November 17th and more details regarding our updated format and how to connect with teachers can be found later on in this communication.

Be well, be safe, and be kind!

Andy

BASIC NEEDS

As the holiday season approaches TTSD and Fowler MS have been evaluating how best to support our families during this time. Holiday Help is a tradition that has entangled basic needs with gifts and winter holidays. This year we are focusing exclusively on basic needs defined as “Food support, Clothing, Shelter, Utilities, Furniture, Mental Health Supports, Connection to other community supports.” This is an impactful and important form of support for our community. However, we will not be coordinating and providing physical gifts to families. In the following weeks you will see information about:

  1. A basic needs assessment to evaluate who in our community would benefit from support

  2. Information about how to donate and support our basic needs program

  3. Information about other organizations that could support our families through the holiday season including food during the holiday season and if any special community programs come up.

Thank you so much for your continued support to ensure all of our families are supported during this time and we are looking forward to collaborating and working together to help families.

PSO

Send us your unwanted Candy!! Send us your unwanted Candy!!

The Morning Meetings are having a competition! This is the final week so please send all that extra, left-over, unwanted candy with your child to school. It will be collected in Morning Meeting classes. Leadership students will gather and weigh candy and the class with the most wins a donut party! This 20th annual fundraiser, sponsored by Wilson Ortho, can bring in $1 per pound of candy, with a $100 bonus for collecting over 50 lbs. This is a regional competition as well, with the top 2 schools earning an additional $500 (first place) or $300 (second place). Sounds like a win win!

Unfortunately, the Family Trivia Night has been canceled for the time being. Please watch for more information in the future.

The next PSO Meeting is Thursday, November 17. The meeting will be virtual and will start at 6:30pm. As always, all are invited! If you’re unable to attend the in-person PSO meetings, this might be the perfect time to join us!
