Celebrating a Wonderful Year at Creekside
Dear Creekside Caregivers and Families,
As we wrap up the 2025–26 school year, I want to take a moment to share how incredibly proud I am to be the principal of this wonderful group of students and staff. This year has been filled with learning, growth, joy, and community. The 2025–26 year will a happy year for us to look back on.
Our Coyotes worked so hard this year! Our initial literacy data is showing tremendous growth, and we look forward to celebrating the progress our students have made. Teachers and students engaged deeply with CKLA literacy learning, building knowledge, strengthening reading and writing skills, and growing as learners each day.
We also had a strong focus on school-wide expectations for learning and behavior. Students practiced using kind words, thinking before speaking, being safe at recess, and showing what it means to be part of the Creekside community. At the same time, they continued learning and growing in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Of course, we also made time for joy! From fun spirit days and whole-school popcorn celebrations to teacher underground spirit days, our school community found many ways to celebrate, connect, and have fun together.
We are already excited to begin planning for the fall during our June strategic planning days. As we look ahead to the 2026–27 school year, we will continue our focus on literacy, social-emotional learning, and preparing to learn and implement a new math resource.
Summer is a wonderful time for students to enjoy outdoor play, rest, and family time. It is also important for students to continue reading and finding ways to practice math in order to minimize the "summer slide". Reading together, visiting the library, practicing math facts, cooking together, counting money, or playing games are all great ways to keep learning going over the summer.
Food pantry resources will also continue to be available throughout the summer for families who may need support. Please reach out if you would like more information about available resources.
We will miss all of our Coyotes this summer, but we are already looking forward to welcoming them back into the building for the start of the 2026–27 school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership. I truly value the conversations I have with you about your students and our school community. Creekside is a special place because of our students, staff, caregivers, and families working together.
I am proud to be a Coyote!
Warmly,
Katie Mould
Principal, Creekside Elementary

Lost-N-Found
The Creekside Lost n Found is growing once again! We have many beautiful items needing to find their owners. Please take a look to see if your child is missing something and encourage them to look for their lost items. The school is open for other family members/Caregivers to come take a better peek anytime during school hours.
Our end of the year donation will be June 11th, Thursday. We will send out many reminders hoping to find owners to the items before they are boxed up.
Student Services Mothly News
During May and June students are learning about and reviewing safety information with Ms. Leah in their Classroom Counseling lessons during SEL block. Here is some safety information for you to consider when creating safety expectations and plans at home!
Culturally Responsive PBIS and SEL
Throughout the year, Creekside focuses on using PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) to support our social and behavioral learning. Our Coyotes work hard to practice ARROW and the Coyote Way! They are Accepting of others, Resilient when faced with set-backs, being Risk-Takers in their learning, showing Ownership, and Working Collaboratively.
PBIS MONTHLY THEMES:
April’s theme was, “I take ownership.” We spent time talking about accountability and the importance of restoration and repair. When we are accountable to each other and our community, our shared spaces feel safe, respectful, and stay focused on learning!
May’s theme is “I work collaboratively.” Working respectfully and effectively in partnerships and small groups is an important part of the school experience. Patience, mutual respect, clear communication, and conflict resolution are skills that we want all students to develop and practice using here at Creekside.
PBIS DATA REVIEW - HOME CONNECTION!
Recent data has suggested that Creekside students need some additional reminders to pause and calm themselves before reacting to a situation. When people are upset (or excited, or anxious, or frustrated, or experiencing ANY big emotion), they tend to react impulsively and may regret it later. When people stop, breathe, and think before they respond, their response is more likely to be effective, compassionate, and in line with their goals and values. Just like any other skill, this may be easier or more natural for some students and more difficult for others. But, also like any other skill, students improve with practice.
At home, you can support your student by normalizing talking about emotions, encouraging students to think before reacting, and talking through any tough situations once they have calmed. What were they feeling? Why did they react that way? What thoughts or behaviors improved the situation? What thoughts or behaviors made things worse? How do they plan to respond differently in the future?
Thank you for supporting these Creekside expectations and life skills at home!
Nurse Notes
Happy May, Creekside families!
Here's a few reminders from the health office as we enter the last full month of school.
If your student has medication in the health office, be sure to pick this up by the last day of school on June 11th, unless your student is enrolled in summer school at Creekside. Medications cannot be sent home with your student.
Summer is the perfect time for your students to get their immunizations. An immunization clinic is available Sat, May 2nd in Madison. Please see the flyer below.
Sending you a huge thank you for entrusting me with the care of your precious children during their school day. They are smart and funny and I learn something new every day from them. I'll see you during summer school or next school year. Have a fun and healthy summer!
Orchestra Notes
Hello, I am Ms. Johnson, the 5th Grade Orchestra Teacher. If your student is signed up for Orchestra in Middle School, please read the following information. If your student did NOT take Orchestra in 5th Grade they ARE eligible and RECOMMENDED to sign up for Summer Lessons to get them ready for 6th Grade Orchestra!
The Sun Prairie Orchestra Program offers FREE Summer school lessons at your Summer School Site for 5th going to 6th Grade Orchestra students and is a wonderful opportunity for students to keep playing, practicing or learning a different orchestra instrument through the summer. Lessons happen once a week for 20-25 minutes. Your student does NOT need to be enrolled in Summer School to receive lessons. District transportation is NOT provided. If your student IS enrolled in Summer School, we pull them out of a class for 20 minutes to have a lesson. Sign up will run April 1st - May 15th.
