From the Principal... Matt Clark
Good afternoon Thompson families! As we move into the final stretch of the school year, there is a noticeable increase in energy, excitement…and occasionally, some selective memory when it comes to our building-wide expectations.
A quick refresher: at Thompson Middle School, we expect all students to be respectful, responsible, and kind throughout their day, every day. These aren’t new concepts, and they’re certainly not hidden. In fact, we reinforce them in just about every way short of skywriting. From signage and videos to morning messages and pod conversations, the reminders are steady and intentional.
The reality is, our challenge is rarely about understanding expectations. Our students know what respectful, responsible, and kind behavior looks like. The real work lies in consistently choosing those behaviors, especially when energy is high, the weather is improving, and summer feels just around the corner.
This is where your partnership makes a meaningful difference. A simple question like, “How were you respectful, responsible, and kind today?” can go a long way. Even better is digging a little deeper when your child shares about their day, helping them reflect on whether their choices aligned with those expectations. Middle schoolers are excellent storytellers, but sometimes need a gentle nudge to connect the dots.
We’re in this together. Making mistakes and testing boundaries is a very normal part of adolescence. Learning from those moments and making better choices the next time is the goal we all share.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Dr. Matt Clark
Thompson Principal

School Physical and Immunization Requirements
Attention parents of incoming Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade students! Per Illinois school code, your student will need a school physical and a complete record of immunizations prior to the first day of school next year, which is August 12, 2026. Make your appointments today-these appointments fill up quickly! Please contact your school nurse prior to May 27, 2026 if you need a copy of your child's immunizations. Please note-a sport physical is not the same as a school physical! You may turn the required forms into your school nurse anytime- please remember to make a copy for your own records!
Also, current 6th grade parents: This is a reminder that all dental exams are due by May 15, 2026. Please submit your child's form if you have not done so.

Rules of life…
If you don’t go after what you want, you will never get it.
If you don’t ask the question, there will be no answer.
If you don’t step forward, you will always be in the same place.
It doesn’t matter if you’re two steps forward or three steps back, as long as you keep moving. Progress isn’t always a straight line, but if you keep moving forward good things will happen. As we move into the final stretch of the school year, students are growing more confident in their math skills each day! This is an exciting time, with so much new learning happening all at once. Keep doing your homework, students! 🙂
***Shout-out to our students who took accountability for their own learning by asking me for help during tutorial! That’s why I’m here!
Math tip: Don’t quit! Switch strategies! There is more than one way to solve a problem!

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!
We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!
Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.
Here’s how to pitch in:
Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!
Bring them to school all year long.
Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!
Let's pull together and make a difference!
The St. Charles Park District is excited to extend a fun, local fundraiser that offers our students and families great pricing for Otter Cove Aquatic Park or Swanson Pool admission. During check out, you can choose whether the passes will be delivered to your student at school or available to pick up at Pottawatomie Community Center. Passes will be valid for this summer only and non-replaceable (so should be treated like cash). Passes will be available for pick up at PCC and distributed to schools around May 15th. D303 Facilities Committee Report: Strong Schools = Strong Community
Superintendent Dr. Paul Gordon shared the details of the April 13 meeting of the School Board, where members of the D303 Communitywide Education Facilities Committee joined district leadership in presenting and discussing the Committee’s Final Report.
“I feel we’re at a crossroads,” D303 parent and Facilities Committee Member Alice Froemling told the School Board. “We have great staff, great teachers, great people who are in our schools every day working with our kids. But we’ve achieved our great success not because of our facilities but in spite of our facilities… We have to do something.”
