Future Ready Classrooms:
We have been informed that the first round of our new furniture will arrive Thursday. I will send an email to the teachers whose furniture will be removed Wednesday afternoon. I will send that list Monday.
Hall Displays: Please update or begin placing student writing in page protectors in hallways. For those of you who have started this procedure, thank you. Remember, we value process over product. Grade level math walls also need to be on display at this time. As a gentle reminder, standards and or a simple description of the learning should be displayed as well.
Dismissal Procedures:
Please remember that bus dismissal should be at level 0. Teachers should place themselves strategically throughout the line and main hallway. We have had a few incidences where unsupervised students have made poor choices. We need all eyes vigilant.

Literacy Corner
It's an exciting week for Literacy at The Knoll!!! On Wednesday, we'll welcome Kate Bishop for our first lab site session. Our focus will center around the Tenets of the Workshop. We'll meet in room 506. Here is the schedule. We will be running on a tight schedule with subs and related arts teachers, so please make every effort to be on time. Please bring the following:
- a pen or pencil
- something to press on (notebook or clipboard) to record your observations during the classroom visit
- your current Reading unit.
-Optional: Your computer (if you'd like to keep digital notes during our discussions.)
Don't forget! It's time for Toolkit Tuesday!!! We'll be in the Learning Commons from 2:45-4:00. I'll bring the stickies and markers, along with another resource you might want to use. Bring any resources you'd like to work from. Hope to see you there!
In our journey of always improving our practice, be reflective. Ask yourself:
What kind of writing is on display? What kind of writing is not on display?
If what we display in the hallways conveys a message about what we value in our school, what is the message here?
How is this seating in my room set to support independent writing?
How is the meeting area in my room set up for the whole class to comfortably come together for whole class minilessons?
Are kids using anchor charts? Which ones are most popular?
What systems are set up for kids to access writing supplies on their own?
Do I have a clear way of keeping conferring notes?
Do I leave students with an artifact and/or something to work on (a reading/writing goal)?
RTI
Thanks so much for CONNECTing with us on Wednesday. I really appreciate you coming prepared to discuss your striving readers by bringing your running records and conferring notes. If you didn't bring your running records, please get with the interventionist that serves your RTI students so, we can discuss the reading behaviors that you are seeing in your striving readers. We are a TEAM and we need to work together to see our students succeed!! Thanks so much for all you do for our striving readers!
Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you for all you do!
Always leave people better
than you found them.
Hug the hurt.
Kiss the broken.
Befriend the lost.
Love the lonely.
Live Every Moment.....Laugh Everyday.....Love Beyond Words!
