Wildcat Weekly- 9/8-9/12

Message from Principal Martinez ๐พ
Dear Wildcat Families:
Thank you to everyone who attended our Donuts with Grownups and our first Wildcat Friday Flag assembly! We had much fun starting our Friday morning together along with our Poway High Titan Ambassadors. Our first parent/principal forum was a success and I appreciate all the parents who attended. Topics discussed included the direction of our school with a focus on High Quality Instruction and Belongingness. Our counselor, Kristen Yearing spoke about our PurposeFULL People program that we are prioritizing at Pomerado this year.
I want to extend gratitude to our PAWs parents who coordinated the ReWear event for our communityโas our first big fundraiser of the year, it is a great way to bring our community together and raise funds for our students!
Looking forward to the week ahead, we will be practicing a couple of emergency drills:
Tuesday, September 9: Secure Campus & Lockdown
At the beginning of the drill, students will hear โWe are going into a secure campus, teachers and staff please secure all doors and windows.โ Teachers will secure their classroom and instruct the students to remain calm and follow their directions. Teachers will keep students in the classroom until further instructions are received. After a few minutes, we will then call/transition into our Lockdown Drill. Students will hear โWe are going into a lockdown, teachers and staff please keep all doors and windows secure.โ Students must remain quiet during the lockdown drill. Teachers will keep students in the classroom until further instructions are received and the end of the drill is announced.
Thursday, September 11th: Bus Evacuation
Students will take part in a bus evacuation drill to practice important safety procedures. The drill will focus on how to safely exit a bus in the event of an emergency, helping students understand and prepare for various scenarios. These exercises are part of our ongoing commitment to student safety and preparedness.
Teachers will review emergency procedures with their students and remind them of the importance of following directions and remaining calm during these safety drills. This is a good opportunity to join us by discussing safety awareness at home.
Have a great weekend and Go Wildcats!

Pomerado is excited to have received interest from our parent community to serve on our school site council. The School Site Council (SSC) is a collaborative group composed of teachers, parents, and school staff who work alongside the principal to develop, review, and evaluate the schoolโs plan for continuous improvement. The SSC plays a vital role in ensuring that school resources, including funding, are effectively aligned with student needs and campus goals.
Voting Information: You may cast your vote for up to three (3) candidates. Please take a moment to read each candidate's statement before voting. Voting will close on Friday 9/12/25 at 5pm.
