Attendance Celebration!
WOW Boards!
Have you ever wondered what our WOW Boards are and why we celebrate students each Friday Here’s a quick overview of how we recognize positive behavior across West Cypress!
1: Students get recognized.
- When a teacher notices a student doing something Safe, Respectful, or Responsible—our core values—the student gets to sign their classroom WOW Board!
- Each WOW Board has 100 spots. Once all 100 spots are filled, the class gets to enjoy the celebration they selected together!
3: Friday brings an extra surprise!
- Every Friday morning, we randomly select a number from 1–100. If a student’s name is written in that spot on their classroom WOW Board, they get to come to the front and receive a special pass to eat lunch with a friend on the stage!
4: We’re working toward a school-wide goal, too!
- We have a school-wide WOW Board tracker. Each time a class fills all 100 spots on its board, they get to add a paw print with their teacher’s name to the tracker.
- Once we completely fill the “T” in TIGERS, every grade level will earn a movie at lunchtime for one day!
- We currently have 22 completed WOW Boards on our tracker! That is 22,000 acknowledgements of positive behaviors this school year so far!
We love recognizing great choices and using positive reinforcement to celebrate students who demonstrate being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible. Ask your child what their class is currently working toward on their WOW Board!
Thanks for being PAWSitive, Tigers!
Tigers demonstrating PAWSitive behavior are nominated to have their names added to our WOW Board. WOW Board members are then eligible to win a fun brag tag and Buddy Pass. The Buddy Pass entitles each WOW Board member to enjoy lunch on the stage with a buddy of his/her choice.
Our West Cypress WOW Board #2 for 2026-27 is shown in the photo. Congratulations, Tigers! We are proud of you.

Testing Timeline
The referral window for 1st-12th grade opens at the beginning of the school year and remains open through the end of the 1st grading period. A teacher, parent, student, or other interested person observing a student with consistent evidence of gifted characteristics may refer him/her during the appropriate referral window; however, a parent must be the one to complete the official referral form, which gives us permission to assess the student.
LTISD Elementary G/T Referral Form - Open 8/12/2026, Close 10/15/2026
LTISD Secondary G/T Referral Form - Open 8/12/2026, Close 10/15/2026
LTISD Kinder G/T Referral Form - Closed
Newly enrolled students arriving after the Fall deadline will be assessed per referral request during the 3rd 9-week grading period. Students arriving during the 4th grading period may be referred for testing the following school year. Students previously enrolled in a Gifted and Talented program in another school district cannot be assessed until they are properly enrolled in LTISD.
The Kindergarten referral window for Elementary campuses will open at the beginning of the Spring semester and will remain open through the end of the 3rd 9-week grading period.
Parents have the right to appeal the results of their child's assessment results. Appeals must be received by the campus GT coordinator, in writing, by January 31st for students assessed in the Fall semester and by May 15th for students assessed in the Spring. Please reference the Discovery Program Guide above for more specific details regarding the appeal process.
