Tiger Talk

Pictured above with our classroom Spelling Bee champions are Principal, Amy Russ, top row far left, and our Spelling Bee Sponsor, 3rd grade teacher, Audry Ostrowski, top row far right..

Each 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classroom held its own Spelling Bee in order to determine its champion. Congratulations to all for your fine work! The classroom champions then competed Monday, December 9, to help us find our WCHE Grand Champion spellers.

Special thanks to Ms. Ostrowski for her support and to our Spelling Bee Pronouncer, Mrs. Linda Holt. You may recognize Mrs. Holt. She is a retired, much loved, WCHE teacher who continues to support our Tigers by being one of our very best volunteers.

The annual Penguin Patch shop will be open December 9 - 12. Your Tiger(s) can bring money to buy gifts for family and friends. Your Tiger(s) teachers will sign up for a day to visit and shop, so keep an eye out for the schedule.

We also need parent volunteers to sign up and run the shop throughout the week. If you are interested in volunteering, you can refer to the email from your classroom parent or reach out to volunteer@wchpto.org for the sign up link.

School photos make great holiday gifts!

We are excited to announce a partnership with the Austin Spurs to enhance our student attendance.

Any student who has no more than two absences during the first nine weeks of school received a complimentary ticket to an Austin Spurs basketball game of his/her choice.

Every day that students attend school is vital and contributes significantly to their success. If your child has earned a free ticket, it was sent home last week. Please check backpacks for a QR code that provides instructions on how to redeem the ticket. If you have multiple children who received free tickets, please contact Rebecca Shaffer at rshaffer@spurs.com for guidance on redeeming more than one ticket.

This super incentive will continue for the second 9 weeks, so keep up the great work!

If your Tiger(s) lost part or all of the SMART Tag equipment, we are happy to replace them upon receipt of the cost to replace the missing or broken items. Just let our Receptionist, Mrs. Michelle Harper, know what needs to be replaced. She can accept payment by exact cash (sorry, we have zero change) or by check payable to WCHE. The price list is:

Scannable badge......$5

Reel and/or lanyard......$5

Oops, lost the whole thing!......$10
