April at Irons JH - We're Soaring into Spring!
Hawk Families -
April is a busy and important month at Irons Junior High as we begin STAAR testing. While this time of year can bring added focus and structure to our days, we are confident that our Hawks are more than ready to rise to the occasion! Our students have been working hard all year long, and it has been incredible to see their growth, perseverance, and commitment to excellence in the classroom.
STAAR is an opportunity for our students to showcase all they have learned, and we know they are prepared. Our teachers have been intentional in their planning and support, ensuring that every student feels confident and equipped for success.
We appreciate your partnership in helping your child be at their best during this time. Please help ensure your student gets a good night’s rest, arrives to school on time, and comes prepared each day. A positive mindset and encouragement from home go a long way!

Irons Testing Information
State Testing: STAAR Testing Technology Reminders
To ensure the security and integrity of the STAAR test, students are not allowed to have access to cell phones, personal electronic devices, or wearable technology during testing.
Wearable technology is permitted only if it is medically necessary. If your child requires a medically necessary device, please ensure the campus has been notified in advance. Please note that certain features of wearable technology (such as cameras, internet access, messaging, or recording capabilities) could compromise test security and may result in a test being invalidated if used during testing.
All electronic devices must follow state and district technology guidelines. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a secure and distraction-free testing environment.
Cell Phones & Testing
Maintaining a secure and focused testing environment is essential to ensuring fairness and student success during all upcoming testing dates. To support this, students are not permitted to have cell phones out at any time during testing. If a student is found with a cell phone, the device will be confiscated and taken to the Assistant Principal’s office, a parent will be contacted, and the parent will be required to pick up the phone. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your child and helping us maintain the integrity of our testing environments.
MAP Testing
MAP Growth Assessment Family Reports have been uploaded to the Conroe ISD Home Access Center (HAC). The MAP Growth Family Report summarizes how your student is performing academically, as measured by the most recent MAP Growth test taken. To access the MAP Growth Family Report in HAC, navigate to the District Applications tab and click on "MAP Testing Reports". To learn more about the MAP Growth test, you can view the What is MAP Growth Video for Families (English) or Qué es MAP Growth-Video for families (Spanish). Additional information about MAP Growth can be found by visiting NWEA.org/familytoolkit.
Summit K12 End of Year Assessment
English
Students in ESL Reading will take their End-of-Year Summit K12 assessment during the first week of April. This assessment helps us see how much students have grown in their language skills this year.
Students who show improvement will be invited to attend our Incredible Pizza Achievement Party on May 1st to celebrate their hard work and progress.
Please encourage your child to try their best and show what they have learned. A simple message like, “I am proud of your hard work—just do your best,” can make a big difference. We are incredibly proud of the effort, determination, and growth our students have demonstrated this year!
