Wilkshire Kids Spread Kindness in our Community Wilkshire Kids Spread Kindness in our Community

The students at Wilkshire were able to make a positive impact on our community. As part of our commitment to fostering responsible and compassionate citizens, Wilkshire students have participated in a series of kindness outreach field trips through Empower, a creative arts class based on Social Emotional Learning competencies.

All 400 students at Wilkshire in first grade, kindergarten, and Young 5’s participated in a field trip this year. During these trips, our students had the chance to:

  • Give back to those in need

  • Connect with our community

  • Spread joy and appreciation

Locations for this year’s trips included: The Haslett Community Food Bank, the four other Haslett school buildings, the Administration building, Meridian Township Police and Fire Departments, Blondie’s Barn, Playmakers, Schuler Book Store, Haslett Public Library, Haslett Biggby, The Corner Spot and Brookdale Senior Living Center.

At each location, students sang kindness songs, thanked community members, shared projects, and did their best to encourage our community to pass it on!

These experiences not only benefited our community but also helped our children develop empathy, gratitude, and a sense of belonging.

We believe that by instilling these values in our youngest learners, we can create a brighter future for all.

Kindness field trips were funded through a grant offered by the Foundation for Haslett Schools. Thank you to the Foundation for their generous support!

Haslett Robotics Club: A Season of Success, Innovation, and Excitement! Haslett Robotics Club: A Season of Success, Innovation, and Excitement!

As the school year wraps up, the Haslett Robotics Club is celebrating an incredible season filled with creativity, teamwork, and high-tech triumphs. Our students have once again shown what’s possible when passion meets innovation—both on and off the competition field.

This year, Haslett Robotics proudly supported over 125 students from elementary to high school, with the astounding accomplishments of having two VEX IQ teams, one VEX V5 team, and one aerial drone team—all earning spots at their respective championship events. Additional bragging rights include: 32 total awards, and EVERY MIDDLE SCHOOL VEX IQ TEAM QUALIFIED FOR STATES!!!! All extraordinary achievements that reflect the dedication, skill, and collaborative spirit of our members.

Why VEX Robotics?

At the heart of our club is the VEX Robotics program, which offers students a hands-on opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in an exciting and meaningful way. Whether students are building custom robots, collaborating, traveling, making friends, coding autonomous programs, or solving real-world challenges as a team, VEX brings STEM to life.

Through VEX, students gain:

  • Experience with engaging, challenge-based competition, including project and time management, discipline, and the engineering process
  • Opportunities to design, build, and program robots
  • Growth in teamwork, communication, collaboration, and leadership
  • The chance to compete locally, regionally, and even internationally

Most importantly, they learn while having fun and engaging in teamwork—things we believe are essential for meaningful education.

Looking Ahead: Join the 2025-2026 Season!

We’re already looking forward to next year’s adventures, and sign-ups for the 2025-2026 season are officially open! Whether you’re a seasoned robotics competitor or totally new to the world of gears and code, we welcome ALL students who are interested in working with a team of peers to create, build, code, and compete with robots and drones!

Scan the QR code to sign up or learn more or visit our Haslett Robotics Site.

Thank You for an Amazing Season

We extend our deepest gratitude to all the students, families, and volunteers who made this year such a success. Your energy, commitment, and support are the foundation of what we do. Another way you can support this fantastic club and all of it’s hard working students and volunteers is by donating. Your donation goes to help the club purchase equipment, send teams to tournaments, and host our own Mid-Michigan Robotics Tournament.

Here’s to another exciting year ahead of building, coding, and creating together!
