Counselor Corner

Westfield High School hosted our annual College Goal Event on October 7th in the High School. We had a wonderful turnout with 18 families in attendance! The majority of families had the FAFSA completed in under 30 minutes. We sincerely thank our volunteers, Mike Gawal from FVTC, Mike Hanson from Upward Bound, and Chris Dolata from Upward Bound for helping us to assist families. We look forward to hosting again next year!

On September 23rd, the high school counselors took ​3​0 ​interested 11th and 12th grade students to the 5th annual Skilled Trades Showcase at Madison College in Portage. Students were able to learn about trades ​w​hich include​d Welding, HVAC, Construction, Cabinet Making, Auto Technician, Diesel Heavy Equipment, Machine Tooling, Metal Fabrication, and more! They were ​l​earned about apprenticeship opportunities and ​had the chance to connect with employers actively hiring skilled trades people. Students were very engaged in the many hands-on demonstrations ​through the experience and were​ very thankful for the opportunity!

Cartwheel is a new mental health therapy service that offers virtual Telehealth appointments to Westfield Students! Cartwheel is the trusted mental health partner to schools, providing rapid access to care for students, including therapy and medication evaluation and management. This partnership also includes access to parent guidance, family therapy, and staff therapy, all virtually and with no waitlists. Their licensed therapists and child psychiatrists are diverse, culturally sensitive, and committed to affordable care for everyone—including uninsured families and those covered by Medicaid.
