Good Morning,
We had a terrific first week back to school! Staff are teaching students about school wide and classroom expectations. Students are beginning to learn about the routine and structure of the school day and best of all, they are forming new relationships with peers and staff!
If your child is still struggling with coming to school think about creating a goodbye routine. The goodbye routine provides comfort and familiarity, so your child knows what’s to come. This could be anything you and your child decide on such as a hug, maybe a feelings check in, or a favorite story. Once you’ve said your goodbyes, it’s best to stick to your plan of heading back to your car. A long goodbye scene prolongs the process of separation and can increase the anxiety for your child.
Remind your child that you came back. When you pick them up at the end of the day, reinforce the idea that you came back, just like you said you would.
We understand that the traffic is heavy at the end of the day when entering the JECC parking lot. We ask our families to please stay in your car until you reach the pick up destination. Your child will always be waiting safely with a staff member.
There is a half day for students on Tuesday. This is a Professional Development Day for Staff. Dismissal for all students is at 10:45 a.m.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Perez, Principal
Mrs. MacKay, Vice Principal
I'm a Super Reader!
Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books
We hope to foster the love of reading in our students. Please help us by helping your child read each day. Attached is a reading chart that your child can color each time they read a book. Bring the reading chart to school once all apples are colored and your child will receive a Super Reader sticker. You may choose to only read 10 books per month or submit as many reading charts as you want. We will be keeping track by classroom. If JECC students reach the goal of 10,000 books, we will have a Bubble party at the end of the year.
Help our students reach their goal!

Parking:
1. Proceed slowly down the hill and around the building. At the second stop sign look for the staff member to direct you to a specific lane beginning at 8:05 a.m. All cars will be in rows facing Pearl St. Parking spaces are not utilized during pick up/drop off times, as the lot is too small to accomodate all cars.
2. Please remain in your car until a staff member lets you know that it is safe to exit your vehicle with your child. Be sure cars are not left idling. JECC Staff will escort your child into the building. (do not wait to see your child's teacher)
3. All parents will immediately return to their cars after dropping off their student. Do not leave the parking area until a staff member signals you to go. Families will be released by one lane at a time.
4. Pick up procedures will be the same as above
5. Remember to shut off your car before exiting your vehicle.
We appreciate your patience!

How to update your Aspen Family Portal Account
In preparation for Parent Orientation, we are asking that each family log into ASPEN using the Portal, Login and Password information that has been sent from the technology department with the email entitled "Welcome to the Aspen Family Portal". This will allow you to update your emergency contacts and medical form. It is important that you have 4 emergency contacts in addition to you as the parent/guardian.
We are asking that you complete the following steps by noon on Tuesday, September 5th.
Once you have accessed your account - look at the page in full view. In the middle of the page you will see "Contact Verification and Pink form" a "+ initiation". Click on the '+Initiation" This will bring you a pop-up, click "Next" to make changes to the contacts.
Halfway down the page, click on your student's name in blue. This will bring you to the student's medical information. Be sure to have the most updated information in this form as you will be confirming the information and signing off on the night of parent orientation.
**Be sure to click "OK" once you complete your updates on each form.
