Bite-Size Research

Presented by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department

Grades: 4-6

Cost: FREE

Date: October 20

Times: 9:00 AM, 10:15 AM, or 1:30 PM CDT

Is this fish a carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore? Where does it fit in the food web? These are some of the questions marine biologists may ask when they’re trying to learn more about ocean life. But how do they answer these questions? By dissecting and examining the contents of a fish’s stomach, scientists can learn more about a specific fish species and its role in an ecosystem. Now it’s your turn! During this program, participants will identify and test a hypothesis using model black drum and alligator gar stomachs.

RECORDING - Can't join us live? No problem! You will be sent a link to access the recording within 1-3 business days after the live program.

Note: The posted recording date/time is for registration purposes only.

Chemistry Saves Lives (RECORDING)

Presented by George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum

Grades: K-12

Cost: FREE

Chemistry is fundamental to medical education, acting as the foundation on which the human body functions. Chemistry is the key to life and underpins the search for a cure for cancer. The late President Bush and Barbara Bush became advocates supporting and encouraging medical research to find cures for cancer following the death of their daughter Robin. One day, with the power of chemistry, cancer may be cured.

Join us to ignite imaginations and inspire students using chemistry demonstrations! Some of these will have weird polymers, super cold materials, and even some surprisingly loud reactions! Dr. Jim Pennington presents the Texas A&M University Chemistry Road Show. He greatly enjoys teaching students.

NOTE: The posted date/time is for registration purposes only.
