Dear FSD 157-C Families,

As we welcome the arrival of spring, I want to take a moment to recognize a few athletic achievements of our students and encourage our families to take part in an important opportunity to shape the future of our schools.

Hickory Creek Middle School’s athletic teams have had outstanding performances this winter. Our 8th Grade Boys Basketball team captured the IESA Regional Championship. Led by Coach Ford, the team had an excellent season, and represented the school positively in the IESA Sectional.

Meanwhile, the HCMS Cheer Team earned an impressive second-place finish at the IESA State Championship. Their achievement reflects countless hours of dedication and teamwork.

These accomplishments highlight the talent, dedication, and perseverance of our student-athletes, their coaches, and the unwavering support from our school community. Congratulations to both teams!

At FSD 157-C, we value open communication and collaboration to ensure the best possible learning environment for our students. While we maintain an open-door policy throughout the year, we also encourage all parents, teachers, and students in grades 4-8 to provide their feedback through the Illinois 5Essentials Survey.

This annual survey, conducted by the Illinois State Board of Education, gathers insights on five key areas that impact student success:

• Effective Leaders
• Collaborative Teachers
• Involved Families
• Supportive Environments
• Ambitious Instruction

To meet state participation requirements, we need at least 20% of our families to complete the survey—and we want to hear from as many of you as possible! Your input helps us identify strengths and areas for growth in our schools.

Please take the survey by Friday, March 28, 2025.

Want to learn more? Visit the ISBE website or review the student survey questions. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact Mrs. Durocher at HCMS or Mrs. Cash at Chelsea.

Thank you for your support and partnership in making FSD 157-C the best it can be. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to grow and improve together.

Sincerely,

Doug Wernet, Ed.D.

Frankfort School District 157-C Superintendent

Frankfort School District 157-C utilizes a more environmentally friendly and efficient method for sharing information. Flyers, posters, and media from district schools, non-profit organizations, intergovernmental agencies, and approved business partners are available on our "Virtual Backpack" webpage. This approach replaces the traditional practice of sending materials home via students' backpack mail, ensuring easier access and reduced paper waste.
