E-Bike Information
The Windham Police Department has informed us of an increase in the use of out-of-class electric vehicles (e-bikes) among our students.
A bicycle equipped with an electric motor that exceeds 750 watts (1 HP) and can reach speeds over 20 MPH is classified as an “Out of Class Electric Vehicle” (OCEV) according to federal and manufacturer definitions. It therefore falls under the same regulations as an Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) and cannot be used as transportation to and from school.
The Windham Police Department will monitor our school campuses, and parents will be contacted to pick up the e-bike or vehicle if it meets the OCEV criteria.
For more details on these state and federal guidelines, please review the attached brochure, which summarizes New Hampshire’s laws regarding e-bike usage.
Updated Physicals/ Immunization Records
Please make sure you have submitted your student's updated physical and immunization records to the nurse. You can email them to kbell@windhamsd.org or mgagnon@windhamsd.org, have them faxed or have your student bring them in.
If your student is participating in a sport, you will need to upload a current physical to Final Forms and also provide a copy to Nurse Bell for your students records.

Raptor Kiosks
We are using the Raptor Kiosk for students who are tardy and dismissed and for all visitors to our building.
When you are being dismissed, you need to stop in the main office to check yourself out at the Raptor Kiosk, parents will not be signing you out.
Visitors need to sign themselves in and out using the Raptor kiosk in the office.
Parent/Guardian Technology Resources & Support
Windham's Technology Department is offering Parents/Guardians the opportunity to book one-on -one help sessions with one of our PowerSchool specialists on September 21-23. These sessions are 15 minutes each and can be in person at the SAU office or via Zoom, whichever is convenient for you. We recommend these sessions for parents/guardians who need more assistance than a password reset. We can help with things like navigating MyPowerHub or viewing your student's schedule, grades, etc. For simple support requests such as password resets, please continue to use our Google Parent Support Form. When you book a day and time that works for you, select either "In-person" or "Zoom" with screen sharing. For Zoom sessions, we will send you a Zoom link before your designated meeting time. Note: If you need help with the mobile app, we suggest meeting in person, as screen sharing the app may not be an option.
New K-8 Mathematics Curriculum Resource
With the start of the school year, the district is excited to roll out our new mathematics curriculum resource, which will strengthen math instruction through Illustrative Mathematics (IM) grades K-4 and Open Up Resources (OUR) grades 5-8. These high-quality, standards-aligned resources help students develop a deeper understanding of mathematics while building problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Students will have opportunities to explain their thinking, explore different strategies, and make connections between mathematical concepts. Students will be asked to show how they solved a problem and explain why their answer makes sense. This approach helps students build understanding, confidence, and perseverance as mathematicians. Please look for more information about the new resource in your students' building-level newsletter.

Only the office can enter an absence as excused, not teachers or administrators. Please make sure you are using the above options to notify us of your students absence.
REMINDERS
Wired headphones are a supply request-- students should not be using Airpods or wireless headphones throughout the school day.
Beginning in the 2025 school year, New Hampshire has enacted a statewide “bell-to-bell” ban on student cell phone use from the first instructional bell to dismissal, except in very limited cases.
Although this is a new statewide policy, the Windham School District already had a cell phone, smart watch, tablets, or personal laptop policy in place for students in grades K–8. For our students, this will not be a change. Cell phones are expected to remain off and stored in student lockers for the entire school day.
We ask parents and guardians to please remind your child of this expectation so we can continue supporting a focused, distraction-free learning environment.
