Madison High School Updates
September 1, 2025
Message from Mrs. Thomas
Happy Labor Day! I hope MHS Families have had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend! We look forward to a great second week of school when students return tomorrow, Tuesday, September 2nd! Due to rainy weather this past Thursday, our PBIS Kick-Off and Welcome Back Celebration will now take place tomorrow. Students will have an opportunity to enjoy an extended outdoor lunch. Students can grab a lunch from our cafeteria, bring a picnic lunch, or purchase items from Natalie's Food Truck or the Fizz Rig(see menus below)! Bring your favorite lawn game or just a blanket and plan to celebrate the start of another great year at MHS💙💛
Attendance Matters!
September is School Attendance Awareness Month recognizing that regular school attendance is ESSENTIAL to student achievement. Students cannot learn when they are not in attendance! In addition to the other buildings in our district, MHS has identified improving student attendance as one of our priority goals for the year. Our entire student Attendance Policy is outlined on pages 4-6 in our student handbook, but families are reminded that once a student accumulates nine (9) or more countable absences in a trimester, they are required to achieve at least a C+ (78% or higher) on the final exam to be eligible to earn credit. Students who achieve an exam score of 78% or higher, will receive no lower than a 60% D- on their report card and final transcript.
Employability is one of our PBIS Pillars. Our Building Implementation Team developed the following incentive to recognize those students who demonstrate excellent attendance:
Students that have 0 absences and 2 or fewer tardies total for the entire trimester will earn an exam exemption for all MHS classes that they are currently passing (prior to attendance grade). They have the option to still take the exam if they choose. Release list of students- the last full day of school before exams.
