Staff Shout Outs π
In an effort to find additional ways to celebrate our staff, the WLCSD Community Relations department requests that families fill out the information below for staff who are rock stars in their classrooms and school communities.
A sample of what these shout outs will look like on social media and in our district newsletters is on the right.
Bigger than football π
Walled Lake Western hit the field on Friday night against Lakeland in a game that was about a lot more than just football as the program recognized members of the community that have battled or are currently battling cancer in the 14th annual Warriors For Warriors pink out game.
Prior to the game, there was a Warriors parade, a performance of both a combined choir and band made of middle school and high schoolers, and a special ceremonial coin toss.
This year's honorary caption was Walled Lake Western Resource Room teacher, Norm Celinske. Senior Pasha Goffee wore his name on the back of his uniform. Celinske was diagnosed with colon cancer on December 25, 2024 and will complete his chemotherapy this week.
Buster's spreading safety tips and smiles π
Buster and his friends made their first stop of October at Walled Lake Elementary teaching the Tigers everything about school bus safety from getting on and off to smooth evacuations!
Throughout the month of October, Buster and his friends will be cruising though the district to our elementary schools.
Apple-tastic Week in Junior Kindergarten π
Junior kindergarteners at Pleasant Lake Elementary had a bushel of fun this past week celebrating Apple Week!
Theses Sharks truly did it all during the week. From stories to spice-smelling, using an old-fashioned peeler and corer, and even making APPLE VOLCANOES!
The week then culminated on Friday where each student made their own mini apple pie, which they said were so yummy!
International Podcast Day π
Did you know Walled Lake Western has its own student podcast?!
Help us celebrate International Podcast Day by giving our students a listen and keep an eye out for the newest episodes coming soon!
Cell Organelle Speed Dating π¬
Mrs. Squibb and Mrs. Lown's biology classes had a blast learning about cell organelles!
Students created organelle profiles and then shared their expertise with the rest of the class through Cell Oranelle Speed Dating.
