Counselor Connection

Lucie Ftorek - School Counselor
Congratulations to all our first graders (and their families!) on a fantastic school year. Your first grade kiddos have learned a LOT of social skills this year and have had some fun while learning! For the rest of the school year, we will be working on our "Second Grader in Training" skills. Next year, these almost second graders will be role models and the leaders of our school!

Summer Safety
As school comes to a close for the summer and the days get warmer, children are going to want to play outside more! Playing outside is a fantastic way for kids to exercise and have fun while exploring the environment around them. As summer approaches, it is a good time to review some Summer Safety rules with your kids. Here are some resources to help!

Important Update for Back to School
The school will be providing all materials your child needs to be successful in the classroom, so there will be no supply lists from teachers and no stressful back to school supply shopping! Teachers may have individual wish lists, but all pencils, binders, folders, glue sticks, crayons, markers, etc. will be supplied by the school.
A note from Nutrition Services
Hello Parents and Guardians,
As we near the end of another successful school year at Ashland Public Schools, I wanted to touch base with a few important reminders, especially for those families whose students will not be returning next year.
If you’ve been using autopay on www.myschoolbucks.com to add funds for a la carte purchases to your child's meal account, we kindly request that you DISABLE AUTOPAY now to prevent any unnecessary reloads over the summer break. Despite our best efforts to manage account balances, autopay can sometimes lead to complications, so it's best to take this precaution.
Additionally, please keep in mind that we can only issue refunds for amounts exceeding $10.00. If your child has remaining funds below this threshold, you have the option to:
1. Transfer the balance to a sibling or another student who will be returning next year.
2. Donate the funds to support a student in need. We'll ensure the transfer is handled anonymously.
Seniors, if there are any funds left on your account, please visit the cashier at the High School to specify your preferences for handling the remaining balance.
Parents, please submit your transfer and donation requests, including your child’s name, ID number. Additionally, for refunds, please provide the address where the check should be sent.
Please send your request and questions to
Regina Wilkinson (rwilkinson@ashland.k12.ma.us) and
Paula Caffrey (pcaffrey@ashland.k12.ma.us).
Thank you for your attention to these matters as we wrap up the school year. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,
Regina Wilkinson
