Duniway Service Days
Students raked leaves, planted gardens, played games with elementary students, dusted airplanes, made fall holiday decorations for a senior facility, wrote letters to service members, first responders and children in the hospital, and more. (See photos below.)
Duniway Principal Hilary Brittan Lack received several emails from community partners (see list below under "Community Partners") who praised the students and teachers who turned out to volunteer. One partner said the students saved him two weeks of work!
Upcoming Virtual Town Halls
Thank you to everyone who has joined our parent Town Halls so far. It’s been great to have conversations with our families about their students’ experiences in our schools.
There are still dates to come, so it’s not too late to join in! Please click a date below to register for a certain meeting. Once you register, a meeting link will be emailed to you.
Monday, Nov. 1 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Safe Routes to School program
MSD is working with the Oregon Department of Transportation and the City of McMinnville on a plan to create safe routes for Buel, Patton and Wascher students to walk or bike to school.
Families are invited to share their experiences in traveling to those schools by sharing feedback on an interactive map, joining a school walk audit and/or joining an online community meeting.
Click for details and dates.
Mummy Dogs!
Our Nutrition Services department offered a fun Halloween treat this week with “Mummy Dogs” (hot dogs wrapped with homemade dough) served with fresh fruit and veggies for lunch.
Upcoming vaccine events
Sunrise Family Clinic is offering a flu and COVID-19 vaccine event next Tuesday, Nov. 2 and Friday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the School-Based Health Clinic at 1500 NE Baker.
See flyer below for more info.
Division 22 Report
Each year the district presents a report to the School Board on its compliance with the state Board of Education’s public school standards.
Click here to read this year’s report, which is posted on the MSD website.
Community Partners
Thank you to the following organizations that supported our Duniway Service Days. This is truly a community effort!
Linfield University, Vineyard Heights, Miller Woods, YCAP, McMinnville Parks Department, McMinnville Downtown Association, St.Barnabas Church, Greater Yamhill Watershed Council, McMinnville Public Library, A Family Place Relief Nursery and Evergreen Aviation Museum.
Financial support was provided by Duniway’s PTSA and PTSA president Charity Livington as well as Lowe’s, which donated rakes, shovels, hand tools and flower bulbs for the various yard and garden projects.
